Did you have a job at age 29 that paid $174,000 a year and had great benefits and that you could remain in for the next 30 years?
Does Waitress = dumb?

I had a job at 29 that paid what was is the equivalent of $175,000 today with great benefits that I could remain at for 30 years.
I am a fucking idiot.
AOC isn't the ultimate decider on whether she serves 30 years.
If AOC is still a Representative in 30 years I'll be shocked. Actually, I'll be probably be dead.

This goes back to my original question. Does salary = intelligence?
I never have said waitress = dumb. Not once. I dont believe that to be true as my wife has waitressed and bartended plenty and she is a very smart person. Its not her previous occupation that leads me to believe shes dumb. Also, as i said previously, she may not be dumb but her ideas and the ideas she supports are dumb.
Around and around we go.

I have explained this before, but it looks like I need to again. The "waitress" reference to AOC is not so much about her having worked as an actual waitress, but is from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," where there is a peripheral character who appears from time to time known only as "The Waitress." She has a name and keeps insisting trying to tell the main characters her name, but no one is interested, choosing to continue to call her "The Waitress." It is a commentary about AOC's lack of overall importance and relevance to the discussion of legitimate Presidential candidates. Is she also dumb? Absolutely, but the "waitress" reference has nothing to do with her lack of intelligence.

A bunch of dumbasses all over the world have spastic arguments about every word uttered by her. You'd have to pay me more than that to deal with the absurdity of that job.

I doubt that the pool of eligible, interested candidates gets better if they drop that salary amount. It doesnt bug me. What they do bugs me.

What they do also bugs me, and is the reason I think they're paid too much.

DC is a really expensive environment, but I think their salary should be lowered to 80,000 per year. That would give them enough to survive and be comfortable.
Also, would AOC ever find a job in the free market that pays 174,000 per year? Not a chance.

DC is really expensive, and $80,000 isn't nearly enough for them to maintain some semblance of a place to live there, while also providing for their family and residence back home.
And as far as "the free market", you're right, she's no Stormy Daniels.

$80k isnt going to result in a comfortable living when you're talking about a person who either lives full time in DC or who has to split their families between their existing location and DC.

Feral and 2coach beat me to it on the $80,000 thought.
My question is why do you feel there is no chance AOC could find a job making $174,000?
I disagree with that statement.
I'm not saying I feel it would be easy, what I am saying is I feel there is a chance she could.

The only people even worried about it are those inferring that she should just STFU and be grateful for the opportunity that she has right now.
Which is absurd.

One could easily live in DC on 80K a year. How? You get a 1 bedroom apartment and don't live beyond your means.

Those fuckers don't work enough for all that money. Especially on the state level. 20hr work week average for the year is my guesstimation.
