I truly don't wish bad things for anyone and it's easy not to wish that with Melania. But watching Mitch McConnell explain something yesterday about why he needs to hold up legislation, I had to to keep saying to myself, "Don't even think it."

I took it to mean exactly what he claims he meant it to mean. He was mocking her for her joke of an "anti-bullying campaign" - and for her doing public health PSAs on the coronavirus when she knows as much about public health and the virus - as a garbage can.

Why is the right wing so damn obsessed with the new of this thing? I mean, yeah, I know why. But it's infuriating because of how important it isn't. And I am falling right into the trap by being mad about it.

I guess they feel the same way about liberals blaming Trump for this?

When I see right wing media they always talk about Wuhan flu, Chinese Virus, and those awful political correct jerks who call them racist for doing so.

They don't just call it what it's called precisely because they want this to be about the last thing there. Trying to take focus off real issues and play to their base instead.

A) No need to say "sorry".
B) I disagree that "Be Infected" has only one meaning. Sometimes things people say depend on the context and they way they say it. He typed #BeInfected and not "Be Infected" for a reason. That reason very well may have a different meaning than what you want it to be.
C) I don't know what else he has said in terms of backtracking but his initial response was - "Insofar as #BeBest has been a travesty from the jump, you mean? Insofar as her online bullying efforts are placed in absurd contrast by her husband's daily actions? That's how I meant it."

You're probably correct, DC, it was unfair of Wilson to say anything negative about Melania. I've kind of followed First Ladies and their impact on American political culture since childhood. Many of them have an obvious impact on their husbands and their governance. But Melania is so far out of the league of Betty Ford, Lady Bird Johnson, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, Rosalyn Carter and obviously impaired in some manner, that we should just feel sorry for her.
