Either way it's a bad idea.
Agreed.
I agree that it may be a bad idea, but I am not convinced that the constitutionality is as unequivocal as DC claims. I'm no constitutional scholar, but if your claim is that Supremes MAY rule it as such it's really not a convincing case.
You should really read what I posted again.

Sorry twocoach, don't think the facts support your hypothesis that the middle class are footing the bill for the wealthy.
You don't get what I am saying, as usual, and I simply dont have the energy or interest in trying to explain what I was saying to a person who isnt going to get it so I am going to simply leave it.

Well, you've changed what you've said a few times, so there's that.

You said something that wasn't true (and doesn't even make sense). Now you're trying to be condescending to me because your statement was false/incoherent rambling mess/ overly dramatic....which isn't surprising.

I just posted an article that presented some facts about the tax cuts you're so outraged about. I'm sure you didn't read it (hint: middle class got tax cuts/benefits too). And why would you? It's way more fun to say things like "the middle class is being TAKEN from and it's being GIVEN to the wealthy"....

Deficits matter as much as truth to Republicans in the Trump era. Not at all. There is no basis for economic strength in a country whose national defense has been undermined in the thrall of an enemy and is run by a corrupt idiot. Doubling down on catastrophe has its hedge advantages I suppose.

The tax cuts will result in a $1.5 trillion shortfall over ten years. Go look at Trump's recent budgets that are looking to offset that amount. Massive cuts to ACA, Medicaid, education, social security, head start early education, nutrition assistance, affordable housing assistance. All programs that affect the middle and lower classes.

So no, I was not wrong. I read your article, it was solely about the tax cuts and included nothing that the Trump administration did as a result of the tax cuts. Actions have consequences and the consequences of Trump's tax breaks to large corporations is that the middle class will be negatively impacted by the budget cuts required to attempt to fund that tax cut.

Do you get it yet?

Besides it being proposed by a Dem?

Apparently the GOP only likes a redistribution of wealth when the middle has money taken from tomorrow and given to the wealthy today as is currently happening with Trump's tax breaks.
This is what I originally said, Illy. The "middle has money taken from tomorrow and given to the wealthy today" is the part that you didnt process correctly. I assume that you hit reply before you got through the first sentence so maybe you just missed it.

I read what you said (and it's still incorrect)...and mighty rich of you to accuse people of responding after reading the first sentence when that is literally your MO.

EVERYONE (except people making 10k or less) got tax cuts. I made more and paid less in taxes. I'm not wealthy. Hell, I'm closer to poor than wealthy. Especially getting property taxed to death in the great state of IL (but I digress).

Do I think the tax cuts are stupid and hurt us for the future all else staying the same? Yes. We agree on that. The debt will soar. The cuts are to things we shouldn't be doing blanket funding cuts to.

It's bad for all of us long term. It's not just bad for the middle and good for the wealthy. I know the left likes to paint the wealthy as villains, but most aren't.

And fwiw, since we are on tax cuts and the article mentions some of the corporate tax cuts....my company hired more workers, expanded our footprint thru acquisition, started a new branch of the company for crop insurance, improved benefits packages by a substantial amount (dental, vision included now...and while total cost went up the company absorbed that difference so my amount paid per month for health insurance for my family stayed the same...although it's still ridiculously expensive for 4 relatively healthy individuals), historic raises across the board for employees. So short term, those cuts did get passed down for the company I work for (350ish employees total). Not that it's relevant to everyone, but just throwing out some real world experience to be noted.

Our taxes went up. So not EVERYONE.

Glad to hear your company used the money to do some good things. Mine did as well. Many others just used it to buy back their own stock or to buy out old well paid employees to be replaced with younger, cheaper models (mine is doing some of this as well).

It doesnt change the facts. Those customers aid programs mean less money into the pockets of people who need it more than wealthy business owners.

I have no idea how on earth yours went up. It's almost not possible. The standard deduction went up. The rate went down (for every bracket except the less than 10k people).

You mentioned itemized went away before....but unless your wife had a ridiculous amount of itemized deductions that were a significant % of your total AGI then yours couldn't really go up.

Trump, yet again, embracing "socialism".

Anyone else remember how "fiscally conservative" republicans whined endlessly about Obama saving the American auto industry? The "manufacturing", republicans claim to love, but advocated allowing it to go bankrupt, back during the great recession?
