It’s tough, isn’t it?

Dok was so automatic. But Dot was an all American himself, and perhaps the fastest guy in the country.

It’s almost a matter of whether this team could benefit more from an elite post presence, or dynamic guard play.

But neither is necessarily a wrong answer
I'd point out here, though, that neither MG nor DMac have to replicate the guys they replaced. If they would have just played to their capability thus far, I would feel comfortable flipping the UT and OSU games to wins.
and that’s the thing

who on this team is playing to their capabilities? we’ve seen flashes, sure, but zero consistency...even from our upperclassmen

I think we're getting about all we can out of Och, even consistently, save for one outlier game.

One second too late on that one, again.

I jumped out of my seat when Och went for that poster dunk last night. He and the team need that so much.

I recall fans getting upset at Selden early for trying those and not getting a call or missing, but in the end, he was flushing them all over Baylor. You have to go for it every time.

No doubt. Same for Harris.

Ochai has been really good.
It's been rewarding to watch a Kansas kid bloom from a redshirt season to a possible AA candidate and an NBA 1st rounder.

Does a KCMO kid count as a "Kansas kid?" I also lean towards yes, but he didn't exactly grow up shooting it at a hoop fixed to a barn.

Is Agbaji really either of those things?

Good aggressiveness from Harris, he just hesitated on the decision for a half second and let Vital get to the ball. I think that's youth.

The potential is there, but I dunno.

He needs to show he can do something at an elite level. He’s a really good college shooter, but I dunno if elite. He hasn’t shown nba range, and is still prone to leaving shots short.

And while he’s a really good athlete and does other things well, I just dunno if he’s displayed a comprehensive skill set or intangibles to really get the attention of GMs.

You had me until the comprehensive skill set thing. Och's path is clearly 3 and D. Comprehensive skills or the total package only really matters for the franchise changing Top 3ish picks.

Otherwise we wouldn't have Joe Harris signing $75m contracts and Corey Kispert projected lotto.

Junior Per-40s:

Selden - 18.4 / 4.6 reb / 3.5 ast / 1.0 stl / 0.4 blk. .548/.392/.612

Och - 18.6 / 5.6 / 2.5 / 1.3 / 0.8 .438/.438/.743

I was honestly a bit surprised to see that Och compares so favorably, despite 2FG% struggles.

All of which is to say: would we have expected senior Selden to be an AA?

If so, and I think the answer is yes, why should we not expect that from Och?

I am trying to come up with a preseason Big 12 POY that is not Och for next season. I think he is it. By default, that makes you an AA candidate.

edit: maybe McClung.

I think he had to hesitate. Can he dunk if his footwork isn't precise? He knew if he laid it up that Vital was going to break the backboard with it, so he had to stutter to get his footing in order to try and dunk it.

I think I saw his eyes look towards Wilson for the oop.

Don't know if he's AA this year but could sneak into the very end of the NBA 1st round if he left.
He comes back for his senior year, i'd put good money on him making an AA team.

I hope he comes back and is an All American. Next year's roster desperately needs it.

wow...shocked at similarity between Selden’s and Och’s numbers. would not have expected that.
