Baylor probably thinks the same thing though. They beat us by 12 and lost to us by 3. A 3rd and/or 4th potential matchup would have been fun.

I'm saying that was KU's best chance in recent memory. Elite defense. Dominating big man. AA point guard. And they couldn't play for a title because the tourney gets canceled.

But, no, bad luck has had basically no impact on KU not having a title since 08.
Definitely was our best chance since Devonte's senior year. That wasn't THAT long ago.
I would say much better chance. 2018 was still a pretty 3 heavy team where one cold night could end it. Just so happened they ran into a white hot team than no one was beating on that night.

I'd take 2018 over 2020 without much hesitation. Devonte was/is a lot better than Dotson.

Being 3 heavy/guard heavy isn't a negative in my opinion. It got them to a final 4. Baylor is pretty 3 heavy/guard heavy and it worked out ok for them.

Dok is a beast, but at the end of games was always going to have massive potential to be a liability.

2020 Dok was a whole different beast.

And I dunno if the margin is really that big between Devonte and Dotson as college players. Both were AAs.

While Devonte’s skill set is more a natural PG with a good J too, Devon’s was simply being the quickest guy in the gym. Pick yer poison.

Yea, that's a fail.
Though 2018 was still a very good team.

2018 team was really good. But really streaky too. Down by like 15 to Penn in 1st round game.

2020 was plain dominant.

Recency bias.

Guards win NCAA championships. Not big guys who have to go to the bench in close games with 2 min left.

Devonte Malik Svi and Vick would eat them alive.

I hit a draw off the tee...if it's bad it'll be a drop kick hook into the left rough.

Defense wins championships.
Since 2002 never before has a team outside of the top 25 AdjD won a title.
Kansas in 2018 was 47th.
Kansas in 2020 was 2nd.

Also hot take:
Devonte Graham's senior year wasn't THAT much better than Dotson's sophomore.

Devonte was far and away better than Dotson, but ya 2020 wins that matchup.

He was better.
Certainly not far and away.
Dotson scored more points per game and shot 7% better from the field.

7% is a LOT.
2020 Dotson was nasty.

Dotson 2020 more PPG, RPG, SPG, fewer TO/PG, better FG%.
Vonte had a lot of 4 for 12 type of games.

Are we still stripping all context from these types of numbers? That's been a thing dumb shits have done on message boards for decades, better not stop now I guess.
