*FLASHES*

He's still #3 for me, but maybe these old staffs just suck. Maybe he's OK. I mean, shit, Buffalo didn't have much with Vantrease at QB. 7 TDs and 3 INTs for the season.

Just don't turn the ball over, and you'll play QB. They straight up won't throw the ball a ton unless they have a great passer back there. Outside of their big QB that went pro after his junior year, they run the ball like 75% of the time. This will be running team.

There's a HUGE difference though between being a Run-oriented team and a 1-Dimensional team who can only run.

We NEED the QB to be efficient and a threat, even if it's 17 attempts per game. I don't think you can win games at this level if defenses know you can't throw.

Probably the most real Leipold has been. Something that stuck out that hasn’t been mentioned before. By year 4 at Buffalo, he was on Athletic Director #3. Was looking to come to KU to start from ground floor up with Goff.

Worth a listen.

Thanks Newton! RJ is very entertaining without a KU angle.
I trust Leipold will make the right decisions.

And the last chapter of the Miles Kendrick era is set to begin:

I listened to all 3 coaches talk at today's press conference. There were plenty of encouraging things but the QB stuff. Oh man. I think it's going to be Kendrick now. Even the old "we may not announce a starter until kickoff" line made an appearance again. I think we all have PTSD.

Isn't "occaisionally great" they way you get 1 or 2 conference wins.

Consistently good is just a way to keep the margin of loss under 28 points, while you go 0-9 in conference.

One interesting note, DC Brian Borland specifically called out the defensive ends as being one of our better position groups. Maybe the switch to a 4-man front will be good for this team. Also speaking of defensive ends:

Unfortunately it's been trending that way for a week or so. I really think the staff wants Bean to get the gig, he just hasn't done enough yet.

This staff has always been about taking care of the ball at all their stops. Kendrick probably the best option for that. They don't care about them "spinning it" or the like. Take care of the ball and make the smart play and let the scheme do the rest.

TO's are probably item #1 on my priority list too.

Kendrick threw 5 picks in 120 attempts compared to (True Freshman) Daniels's 4 INTs in 152 attempts.

Was it really only 4..? Surprising.

We've seen Kendrick in multiple eras now and in each of the eras coordinators asked him to be something he wasn't. Maybe we reserve judgement and give this staff the benefit of the doubt that they will scheme up the offense were Kendrick won't be heavily relied on. At the college level coaching and scheme matter a TON.

That is the way I am going to look at it until KU completes its first game because at this point I don't trust either Bean or Daniels to overtake Kendrick.

The best we can hope for is a poor mans senior Carter Stanley career revival for Kendrick.

My optimism (which I admit is limited) has more to do with hope in the O-line than Kendrick himself, or system.

I think Kendrick can be better than what he's shown if he gets protection.

We are officially 2 weeks away from opening day. New NCAA rules limit teams to two scrimmages during fall camp. It sounds like KU's second scrimmage is this weekend then their focus turns more toward preparing for the first game. QB situation is likely to shake itself out even though the team likely won't announce a starter or share a depth chart any time soon. I'm holding out hope that an improved offensive line means improved QB play, no matter who it is.

First game feels like some kind of 17-10 sweat it out game.

My official prediction is 27-13.

Heard some interviews with people who cover South Dakota or their radio guy and both sides of the line are weak points for them. Which is good for KU.

Think it's ugly in the first half, like a 14-6 score, but KU constantly running the ball gets South Dakota tired and KU gets some points on the board and South Dakota gets a late TD.

Time to discover just how much you trust BryBry and his sources. Sounds like something happened at the scrimmage this morning.

He usually knows this kind of stuff.

Regardless, not ideal.

Some speculation it might be Will Huggins at TE. The big 6'7 guy. Not completely known though.

College Football is brutal in that there is about 2-3 guys per team that are knocked out for the season in fall camp. It's a brutal few weeks, especially when you do these scrimmages.

If that is true and it's Huggins, that really sucks for him. I believe he dealt with injuries his senior year of high school as well as once he got to KU.

However, TE appears to be one position the coaches like our depth at. It still sucks because it seems like we'll run a lot of 12 personnel but should be able to sustain it. Again that's if it really is him.
