That's a lot of concerns for never having seem them play before.Mjl wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 4:17 pm My concern is the lack of experience playing together for Self. Self's two championship teams both returned four starters. They executed so well as a team moving the ball on offense and playing great team defense.
This team has good enough talent, they're fast, they're deep. But I am concerned some about the ball sticking, I'm worried about team defense despite having good individual defenders, I'm worried about not having a guy who can consistently hit a hook shot down low, and I'm concerned about the three point shooting.
Oh wow. That's a lot of concerns.
I do think some coaches would fit this team better. Notably ones that pressure and like playing 10 guys. Speed and quality depth are the biggest strengths.
My only concern at this point is that the home schedule is a pain in the ass and there aren't any Saturday games in AFH until Dec. 17th.
Re: 2022-23 CBB Season
this kinda has the feel of a "might need a players-only meeting" kinda team.

so you’re saying it’s beautiful?
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I know, right? On the flip side I'm excited to see this team. I find the years where we really don't know what we have exciting.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 4:45 pmThat's a lot of concerns for never having seem them play before.Mjl wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 4:17 pm My concern is the lack of experience playing together for Self. And yet, few people, if any, expect us to finish below 10th in the country. Sheesh.

and our QB was so tough he'd shut down the bars, spend the rest of the night in ChiO house, and still throw 4 TDs for an 11am kickoff!CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 9:13 amBack in 2007-08, the student section was twice as big and 10x as loud! And we went to football games!
more to the point, and all exact "players-only meeting" nostalgia aside, my point was that this team has the feel of one that'll grow up quick, with at least one somebody stepping up into a big new role at some point, and a whole different look and feel in March than in December.
but I guess that's not necessarily a hot take, either.

Re: 2022-23 CBB Season
I have noticed that ever since NIL was put in place and the rise of the importance of social media for the program and players that the program has been trotting guys out in what seems to me to be a little of a team spokesman thing. It's been Jalen this offseason. I like that--forcing upperclass big minute guys to be vocal leaders/spokesman.ousdahl wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 9:23 amand our QB was so tough he'd shut down the bars, spend the rest of the night in ChiO house, and still throw 4 TDs for an 11am kickoff!CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 9:13 amBack in 2007-08, the student section was twice as big and 10x as loud! Yes, Duke may be a trivia question going forward but fwiw (maybe nothing) I believe Vic Bubas coached Duke to 3 Final Fours.
Indiana is one coach one legacy? Maybe but some Indiana and Hall of Fame Coach Branch McCracken fans may beg to differ.
Nova is one coach one legacy? Nova and Hall of Fame Coach Rollie Massimino fans may beg to differ.

Way to point out that Indiana and Nova have actually had TWO memorable coaches Gutman
