Part of me thinks self mishandled Timberlake. Kind of killed his confidence. There was a reason he was so desired in the portal, and he was a much better than 29% 3 point shooter or whatever we got out of him

HCBS is the biggest turd from this season. followed closely by km.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I remember Bill saying once "we recruit scorers and teach them how to guard". The problem with grad transfers is if they don't know how to guard by now you probably can't teach them. Defense is what kept Nick off the floor which got him out of his groove. He was used to playing a lot of minutes.randylahey wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 11:52 amPart of me thinks self mishandled Timberlake. Kind of killed his confidence. But how realistic are some of these? Do you really see Dickinson leaving? I dont. And I don't see Tucker coming if McNeeley comes. And has KU ever recruited Rooths?DeletedUser wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 10:57 am1. DH

Playing like shit is what killed Timberlake's confidence. Not the coach taking him out for playing like shit.randylahey wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 11:52 amPart of me thinks self mishandled Timberlake. 100 percent agree. Defense has always kept people off the floor, maybe self should have let Timberlake play through his defensive lapses a little more while coaching him through it. If he played more throughout the season, maybe he doesn't lose his grooveAlOerter wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 12:12 pmI remember Bill saying once "we recruit scorers and teach them how to guard". I actually disagree. Being taken out and loosing playing time fucks with a guys head way more than making a mistake doestwocoach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 2:15 pmPlaying like shit is what killed Timberlake's confidence. Self has always done this. Sometimes it works with guys, to get them to fix their wrongs. And sometimes it fucks with their psyche, and we get into the season with talented broken players who you can't really play anymore
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
But part of depth is having options when guys are playing like shit. We probably needed a young Releford type to complement Timberlake, so that Timberlake playing like shit was not an automatic 36 minutes for McCullar.

Aint nothing realistic about this list. We can hopefully pick up a couple good players. All I ask is that they are athletic and can shoottwocoach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 2:11 pmBut how realistic are some of these? Do you really see Dickinson leaving? I dont. At Kansas, in the NIL era, anything should be realistic.randylahey wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 3:13 pmAint nothing realistic about this list. We can hopefully pick up a couple good players. That feels like fan speak, not realism. KU isn't heads and tails above everyone else in NIL where they can just buy whoever they want.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 3:32 pmAt Kansas, in the NIL era, anything should be realistic.randylahey wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 3:13 pmAint nothing realistic about this list. Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
NIL could actually make it harder for Kansas to recruit depth. Why sit on the bench here when you can get paid to play somewhere else?
I think KU will get whatever they want when a starting spot is available. But depth might need to be recruited from high school
It's hard to pitch a guy to come play 5 minutes a game backing up dajuan, kj, or hunter.. when some other big school is saying come start and play 30 a game

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
The guys I listed are hardly "whoever they want". It's got a few of the last uncommitted freshman and a few good players from the transfer portal.twocoach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 3:39 pmThat feels like fan speak, not realism. It's not like I listed guys committed to Duke or other schools.
Look at the schools fighting for those guys. We are superior than them.

I hesitate to expect much from anyone who put up any numbers at a mid major
