Not trying to get anything started here, but there seems to be a growing confidence in some places that I've heard/read that KU to B1G is imminent. They have the votes needed from the other universities in the conference, there might be a twist here and there that make things a bit different, but there's a great chance that KU to B1G will be happening. Have heard the year 2023 as a potential start date. That part is still up for grabs depending on multiple factors.
Seems to be a matter of when and not if.

Hoops games will be epically slow and low-scoring.

Bit of both. I think Vernon is really good with his stuff. Have heard from some guys in the Wichita area that are pretty plugged in as well and they are thinking/hearing the same. Not sure on dates, that's the biggest unknown. But like I said, it
seems to be a matter of when and not if.
It can't be overstated how important the academics are with this entire thing. Just absolutely massive. And it seems like plenty of the admin of the B1G schools see past the football woes and see the revenue the athletic department with a struggling football program.

thanks
i wonder how much of the timing issue has to do with 1) potential buyout, and/or 2) a second addition (presuming they’d want an even number)

Yeah buyout is a huge part. Does KU collect as much as they can from Texas and OU before they announce their own departure..? And does KU leaving cause enough chaos for Big 12 to dissolve and therefore no exit fee is paid.. All things to consider.
Also, I think the B1G wants to poach some of the Pac and make it 18 teams. Colorado and 2 Pac-12 schools seem to be the most likely to come along with KU. Colorado is a bit of an unknown though because they have a big alumni base on west coast that travel well for them out there. But it could be what the B1G wants.

I will be anxious to see this firmed up--watching some of the goofballs on talk shows denigrating KU has been pretty grating. Incidentally, saw Nebraska Football is in some trouble with the NCAA.

18 teams in 2 divisions would make sense for scheduling. 8 football games, 16-17 basketball games.

Dont believe that. TCU adds nothing to the SEC...nor do Tex tech or baylor for that matter

totally agree, but...
the intriguing part is the SEC locking down tejas recruiting
i could see that being a real consideration, regardless of other red flags

More internet hope is what it sounds like to me.
If it don't make dollars it don't make sense.
The SEC recruits wherever the hell they want. They don't need TCU or Baylor or Tech to lock down anything.

I tend to agree that TCU/Baylor/Tech don't give the SEC anything they don't already have with Texas and aTm. West Texas TV's would be the only thing, but there's not a lot of them.

I would argue that, on top of the sparse population, the remainder Texas teams are good enough to ruin the seasons of a few SEC favorites. An 8-4 pod winning teams won't help any league and I highly doubt they would be invited to make the SEC into the SWC-reborn. They have hurt the Big 12. Playing good teams every week leads to losses and injuries. KU has suffered more than anyone else. In the old system, there were more winnable games and a break from the desperation of the round robin. In fact, the SEC is an easier conference than the Big 12 top to bottom. Vanderbilt, MU, Mississippi State, Florida, UK, Arkansas aren't that scary. Am tired as hell of the deep benches. Will be glad to see the gauntlet format gone.

Just as scary as your Techs, ISUs and KUs.

Good. I'd rather the Big 12 blow up ASAP rather than wait in limbo for years. Move fast and break things. Let's get the Big 12 then the NCAA over with, and start a new life in the Big 42.

Yep. And like sand people, in greater numbers without year-round football.

WTF you talking about. Two years in a row we lost to Central Michigan I think. Two years in a row we lost to Coastal Carolina I think. Do you really believe any SEC team losing like us???????????
You tired of deep benches?????? Sure no problem welcome to the Moutain West sunshine boy.
