Best analysis ever! Same can be said for about 45 teams, lol.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:33 am
Duke is still a somewhat scary team, because when they're clicking they can probably beat any one of the top teams if the other team doesn't bring their best stuff.
Re: NCAA 19-20
You meant Baylor and not Duke in your 1 line.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:35 am I don't know. CBS has them as a 3, I imagine Lunardi will soon as well. I think Villanova is going to be the team that moves to the 2 line and stays there. Duke is at Virginia Saturday. Home against NC State and then finish up against UNC. Not an easy slate for them.
If I had a guess...
1 line is obviously Kansas, Duke, Gonzaga and likely San Diego State
2 line is Maryland, Villanova, Dayton, Florida State
3 line is Duke, L'Ville, Creighton and Seton Hall
Big 12 teams in it
KU 1
BU 1
Tech 7/8? They were stinky last night.
WVU 5?
OU 10/11?
Doesn't really matter where Duke plays and what seed they are. They will be on TV and people will watch them play.
I wouldn't be at all shocked if they make the Final Four just as I wouldn't be at all shocked if they don't make it out of the first weekend.
I'll worry/care about Duke if/when we face them. Until then, fuck 'em.
Re: NCAA 19-20
Right! Only thing is, people on here don't give a fuck about 45 other teams as much as they do Duke - and they realize Duke lost to Wake and SFA but....... They also beat KU.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:42 amBest analysis ever! Same can be said for about 45 teams, lol.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:33 am

Color me shocked that duke looked good early in the season and not very good late.

About time for a Coach K back injury.

Not really. I don't think there are 45 teams that can beat us or baylor. I think there are about 10 and duke is 1 of them.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:42 amBest analysis ever! Same can be said for about 45 teams, lol.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:33 am

There are 45 teams that can beat duke. But not Baylor or KU. They've established themselves as the top 2 teams and it's really not that close.

Re: NCAA 19-20
Today a couple olds were at the Y and jokingly ( and loudly ) asked one another,
"Hey, where did that kid Jayson Tatum go to school?"
"Everybody knows that, the best school there is, Duke."
"Ah, and where did that kid Zion Williamson go?"
"Duke also."
I wanted to chime in and say, "And how much did Duke pay those kids to play there?"
But then it'd be boomer city every time I went to the Y - b/c they are regulars.
And also i'd be gutter* if I wasn't already for telling a very gutter story right now.
*of note, for gutter, I wore my gutter shirt to the gym today

Re: NCAA 19-20
No depth, and their four best players are 3 freshmen and a sophomore. Underclassmen tend to be less consistent and lacking depth makes you vulnerable to things like foul trouble or one guy having an off night.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:33 amI wonder why that is? Most years I'd just assume it's because the ACC is better than the Big12...but that's not the case this year. Wake forest wouldn't be in the top half of the big 12 either. Weird year.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:24 am They don't seem to be as immune to bad losses as KU or Baylor does.

Carey fouled out in regulation during the WF game.
I only came to kick some ass...

Re: NCAA 19-20
Who knows how much they paid them, wish we'd have been the 1s to pay them and get them to KU.
Probably not the time for Kansas to he calling other schools cheaters. We're the 1s with our feet to the fire. Not Duke.
But yes, duh, they got some form of improper benefits...just as all top players do. And just as probably at least half of our rotation players have.
On a side note: weird how the Calipari hate has died down around here now that we've been exposed as doing the same shit we were supposed to hate him for.
Dumb rules.

It remains one of the more astonishing things that our respective tournament reputations seem so different.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 9:49 am Color me shocked that duke looked good early in the season and not very good late.
Since Bill got here, how seasons ended:
********* KU ---- Duke
R64--------2--------3
R32--------4--------2
S16--------2--------5
E8---------5--------3
FF---------1--------1
NS---------1--------0
NC---------1--------2
Reasonable minds can differ, I guess, but Duke's advantage is a single win in the national championship game. We are decidedly better otherwise.
Re: NCAA 19-20
Well, K obviously benefits from their run in the late 80s/90s/2000s perception wise.
How many total national championships do they have since 1988? I'd guess 4 or 5 but I really have no idea.
But what's interesting is its almost as if we get punished more for so many elite 8 losses..as if losing in the sweet 16 is better because it draws less attention somehow?

Re: NCAA 19-20
Five. Three in a 10 or 11 year run in the 1990sish.
Re: NCAA 19-20
No doubt about this. Shit, I hardly remember our own Sweet 16 losses, because they just get memory-holed so fast (and are, necessarily, diluted by their being eight games in that round instead of four).IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 10:05 am Well, K obviously benefits from their run in the late 80s/90s/2000s perception wise.

Re: NCAA 19-20
Yup. Elite 8 losses are on days where there are only 2 games. So they draw more attention.
1 of my good friends is a UNC fan. He was a little tipsy on the golf course last weekend spouting off about how UNC has the best tournament record recently and how Kansas always chokes....he got clobbered with a whole bunch of facts about how that's untrue. It's like he couldn't remember the years when UNC is an 8 seed or misses the tourney. Meanwhile Kansas is a 1 seed just about every year so it may seem like we get upset more, it's mainly because unless we win it all then of course a team seeded worse than us beats us because it's only possible to play 2 of the other 1 seeds.

I still think they need to win 2 of their last 3 ( doable v Texas, @ TCU ) to get in.
That would put them 9-9 in conference and .500 in the B12 should put you in the tourney.

Re: NCAA 19-20
There will be several Power 5 teams with sub .500 records in the tourney. It's just that kind of year.
