I am offended and triggered by your use of phallic imagery to illustrate historical cultural shifts. I demand that your presence be wiped from this bored henceforth and evermore.

It's evil Cancel Culture if it shuts down a conservative voice being silenced. It's "American patriotism" when it silences a voice that doesn't represent conservative values.

And yes, let me go ahead and save Illy a few seconds and say that both sides do it. But there seems to only be one side running around screaming about how awful cancel culture is. When you do the exact thing that you scream about others doing, it negates your claims that it is a terrible thing and just makes you look like an ignorant, hypocritical blowhard.

Fucking hypocrites.
Cancel Culture reminds me of a terrifying mélange of Farenheit 451, A Brave New World, and 1984. OUtRaGE is no substitute for reason.
The year was 1992. The VP was Quayle. There was an eponymous sitcom on CBS about a reporter named Murphy Brown. Anyone remember that?

Republican outrage about “cancel culture” is…….lulz

Quayle didn't try to end the show or end Candace Burgen's career. He made a speech about how the show undermined fatherhood.

Disagree with the speech if you want, but criticizing someone's work isn't cancel culture.

Yup. Sometimes bad TV is just bad TV.

So, maybe Murphy Brown was an inaccurate example. Didn’t some people try to ban Harry Potter books?

“Family Values” faux-outrage was a thing as I recall. Maybe it doesn’t fit the semantic definition of cancel culture, but it quacks like a duck…..

yes...just looked it up

a pastor at a nashville roman catholic parish school banned them from their library because:

“the curses and spells used in the books are actual curses and spells; which when read by a human being risk conjuring evil spirits into the presence of the person...”

holy shit

The United States is not in the midst of a “culture war” over race and racism. The animating force of our current conflict is not our differing values, beliefs, moral codes, or practices. The American people aren’t divided. The American people are being divided...
