I agree. Until I reached 60. Then I started adding whitener to soften the blow to my gut.

I find that lighter roasts are kinda gross when they get closer to warm than hot.pdub wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 5:02 am Starbucks is actually pretty good coffee if you just order the coffee.
I can’t knock ‘em for their Pikes/House blend. You can drink it black.
Just all the other shit that has been added to the menu bc people love sugar I can’t defend.
Dunkin’ on the other hand is bad enough you have to sugar it up but even if you ask for one sugar they put in a cup.
I also agree with ous that I’ve had a lot shitty rest stop coffee.
Re: The Travel Thread
The only Starbucks I DO do is an americano, black.
Even the drip there can be kinda meh to me.
And spare me the grande venti bullshit, I just say large.

But I can say that about a lot of coffee.
We switch from Peet's to Starbucks grounds at home ( no, I don't grind my beans, get over yourself, I got shit to do ) depending on price and drinking that warm to room temp is no bueno.
At that point you need to nuke it or mix it with ice.

Re: The Travel Thread
fan of Peete’s, Starbucks not so much
the Simple Truth Organic that Kroger stores tend to carry is usually a staple. but, as expensive as coffee has gotten we more often than not just get the whole beans that are the best deal
on occasion i’ll just get the *gasp* pre-ground folgers

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: The Travel Thread
I have folgers every day. my exquisite and fancy taste in beverages is well documented though.
Just Ledoux it
Re: The Travel Thread
Starbucks is the worst beverage shop at the mall. 4 out of 5 folks in line at the orange julius agree.

Re: The Travel Thread
I’m not too much a coffee snob to not drink Folgers.
But I’m enough of a coffee aficionado to understand Starbucks is better than Folgers.
I think Starbucks has gotten the Dave Mathews treatment.

Tim hortons coffee is the best.
Re: The Travel Thread
I’ve had it.
I went in every day visiting Toronto expecting a lot.
It’s Dunkin level to me.

Including rinsing the grinder, it takes about a minute.pdub wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 3:07 pmI guess?jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 10:44 amI find that lighter roasts are kinda gross when they get closer to warm than hot.pdub wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 5:02 am Starbucks is actually pretty good coffee if you just order the coffee.

What about “tall?”
On a related note, I may or may not have been in a band for a while called the Grande Americanos.
Our promo art was a bunch of big fat rednecks…
…drinking truck stop coffee.

Re: The Travel Thread
The OG Starbucks had the those named sizes so it’s good in my book.
If it was introduced after they became a franchise then I’d be eye rolling and might join by saying small, medium and large on purpose.

Re: The Travel Thread
FWIW (overpriced coffee that some/many people used to refer to being "gourmet"?) The original size names were short, tall, and grande.
I assume for some customers at the "OG" store it was a gimmick that actually probably enjoyed saying and made them feel as if they were getting something special. For some other people, it was probably a reason why they said fuck Starbucks and their bullshit "lingo" and refused to step foot in a Starbucks because of it.
Go ahead and feel free to call me an asshole because of my feelings but I feel both groups of people mentioned above were/are assholes.
My worthless 2 cents.....
Someone enjoys Starbucks, good for them.
Someone doesn't like Starbucks, good for them.
Those who enjoy Starbucks and feel the need to excessively express to others how much they enjoy it - fuck them.
Those who don't like Starbucks and feel the need to excessively express to others how much they don't like it - fuck them.

I initially read “OG Starbucks” as, whoa Olive Garden had a Starbucks?!
I’ll take a venti Alfredo, per favore.
