I agree. Until I reached 60. Then I started adding whitener to soften the blow to my gut.

I can’t knock ‘em for their Pikes/House blend. You can drink it black.
Just all the other shit that has been added to the menu bc people love sugar I can’t defend.

Dunkin’ on the other hand is bad enough you have to sugar it up but even if you ask for one sugar they put in a cup.

I also agree with ous that I’ve had a lot shitty rest stop coffee.
I find that lighter roasts are kinda gross when they get closer to warm than hot.

I guess?

But I can say that about a lot of coffee.
We switch from Peet's to Starbucks grounds at home ( no, I don't grind my beans, get over yourself, I got shit to do ) depending on price and drinking that warm to room temp is no bueno.

At that point you need to nuke it or mix it with ice.

fan of Peete’s, Starbucks not so much

the Simple Truth Organic that Kroger stores tend to carry is usually a staple. but, as expensive as coffee has gotten we more often than not just get the whole beans that are the best deal

on occasion i’ll just get the *gasp* pre-ground folgers

I’m not too much a coffee snob to not drink Folgers.

But I’m enough of a coffee aficionado to understand Starbucks is better than Folgers.

I think Starbucks has gotten the Dave Mathews treatment.

Including rinsing the grinder, it takes about a minute.

Yup.
And then becomes so engrained into culture that people can't admit what is happening.

What about “tall?”

On a related note, I may or may not have been in a band for a while called the Grande Americanos.

Our promo art was a bunch of big fat rednecks…

…drinking truck stop coffee.

The OG Starbucks had the those named sizes so it’s good in my book.

If it was introduced after they became a franchise then I’d be eye rolling and might join by saying small, medium and large on purpose.

FWIW (overpriced coffee that some/many people used to refer to being "gourmet"?) The original size names were short, tall, and grande.
I assume for some customers at the "OG" store it was a gimmick that actually probably enjoyed saying and made them feel as if they were getting something special. For some other people, it was probably a reason why they said fuck Starbucks and their bullshit "lingo" and refused to step foot in a Starbucks because of it.
Go ahead and feel free to call me an asshole because of my feelings but I feel both groups of people mentioned above were/are assholes.
My worthless 2 cents.....
Someone enjoys Starbucks, good for them.
Someone doesn't like Starbucks, good for them.
Those who enjoy Starbucks and feel the need to excessively express to others how much they enjoy it - fuck them.
Those who don't like Starbucks and feel the need to excessively express to others how much they don't like it - fuck them.

I initially read “OG Starbucks” as, whoa Olive Garden had a Starbucks?!

I’ll take a venti Alfredo, per favore.
