To be expected. They had better than expected roster turnover, but commits are always the ones that are the most turbulent. Les still had a ton of pull. Think it’s why the defensive guys all left. They were all from south and grew up with Les running the SEC.
The season is going to be massive to determine success of recruiting for 2022. Have to be competitive on field and in the state and surrounding area. Leipold is going to hit Midwest hard (Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska and more) some tough kids there.
Young talent is still really strong. And it seems like the coaching will be better than previous years.

If you are referring to Brice he balled out at either a Texas or UT camp and then subsequently picked up offers from both schools. No brainer for that kid to de-commit.

Wish he had some faith. He’ll be a special teams guy there.

Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. It’s just the nature of the game for 90% of these kids. Getting a Power 5 offers (even from KU) gets you invites to camps and coaches attention once you get their. This young man seized his opportunity and took it. With the transfer portal in place, if all he plays is ST for OU or UT his first year he can open back up his recruiting.
The fact is these young man have options now more than ever and this is the way that college sports has been trending and will continue for the future.

I know for sure CnB and I thought he was the worst hire of the bunch, but listened to that podcast KU does with Simien and he talked with Gildersleeve, the new strength coach.
Recap of the pod (Not my thoughts PhD)
He's an interesting guy. He says he demands respect, not just because of his role but how he goes about his daily life being a person, father and husband. Buy in from guys on campus has been huge, he says. (Because of course he has to say that)
Focus is not about getting guys to lift the most weight, although that is important, but seems to focus on how to put the necessary force in specific football movements. Something along the lines of "You may be the strongest in the weight room, but do you use that strength properly, or does a guy who squats less than you run you over because they are using correct motion and force" Seems very scientific in his methods.
Still a high unknown on him. But he was impressive enough to be the head S&C guy at Akron at just 23 years old and went to Mt. Union, where he went 57-3 as a player, but all 3 losses to Leipold in championship game for D3. But Leipold kept track of him from afar and wanted him to serve in some capacity with him and finally got him to Buffalo a few years ago.

Gildersleeve was definitely one of the bigger question marks on the staff, especially because Les's S&C guy seemed to be having some success. But who really knows. The podcast episode was interesting and he seems like a great guy that knows his stuff. Deciding to automatically hate the hire just because of the "Guy of the Week" and "Rock Chalk Rack" gimmicks seems a little petty. If he gets results, who cares?

Time will tell.
Just sure seems to me that if we’d fire Gildersleeve, we’d hope to replace him with a guy like we had last season.

The Great Gildersleeve will show us all. His middle name is Philharmonic.

Full disclosure:
I like "Rock Chalk Rack"
Can they please go back and workshop "Guy of the Week"? and...if giving it to Kendrick first wasn't at least a red flag, then you aren't paying attention. I'm 98% hopeful that doesn't mean anything and he got it for being a good teammate and working his ass off...but if there's not 2% of you worried that he's pulled the wool over the eyes of ANOTHER coaching staff, then we've learned nothing as a fan base.

yes.
But at least they took a second to come up with a name that was KU specific.
"guy of the week" is something a 4 year old would come up with. And this went through all levels of the coaching staff and was also what they used at Buffalo.

Well just to see
The bookmakers have us at 1.5 wins this season.
Which is actually at the bottom of all the teams.
I mean there are no team at 1 wins this season.
So what say you the kool-aid drinking MF'S
This is easy money for you Jokers.
Two wins.
Come on get your money down.
Year two may get a little more complicated.
Your brains may start to comprehend the complexity of football.
Any which way the sharks are betting on one win this season,
They are hoping and praying you bet two.

How's about we not bet on KU football and enjoy any progress we see on the field and support the team?
