When we were coming back from the procedure (a few years ago) apparently the car was low on fuel. My wife told me that I directed her to the gas station with the cheapest price along our route back home, insisted that I would pump and then helped reset the fuel monitor in the car (takes a few steps, not just resetting the trip odometer). Then when we got home I fixed my own lunch and scorfed it down in just a couple of minutes (I am a slow eater).

I had no recollection of any of this. Yes, "Better Living Through Chemistry"

The temporary amnesia is a gift, because who wants to remember their colonoscopy?

One time one of my partners referred a patient to a gastroenterologist for a colonoscopy, and afterwards the patient called our office to warn us that the gastroenterologist, (who we all knew and loved), was a quack and we shouldn't refer patients to him, and she wasn't going to pay him his co-pay. She was also going to call the state board of healing arts to turn him in, and let her insurance co. know that they shouldn't pay him. Why, "because all he does is put you to sleep and then doesn't do anything, just shows you some pictures of who knows whose colon after you wake up, and collect his money". It took some trying, but she was finally convinced that the colonoscopy was actually performed, she just didn't remember it.

Went out to lunch after mine. Next day had no recollection of the lunch.
My disaster colonoscopy story is that I drank a shit load (pun intended) of the Suprep. Everything I was supposed to drink - as nasty as it was. One hour, nothing. Two hours, nothing. Three hours, nothing. Starting to get late in the evening. Called the Gastroenterologist (had his direct number - family friend) and he actually answered the phone. Told me we should reschedule the procedure. I was livid. He asked me if there was anyone who could go get this liquid stuff (I forget what it's called) at Walgreens. I said no. He asked how far the Walgreens was. I told him about 6 blocks. He said try and run there and hope for the best - in terms of not shitting in my pants. I ran to Walgreens and got the grape flavored stuff. Idiot me realized I wasn't supposed to drink anything red or purple. Had no choice but to run BACK to Walgreens. Was convinced I would crap my pants on the way there, while I was there, and on the way home. Thankfully I didn't. I got the lemon flavored stuff the second time. Went home and drank the stuff. Thankfully a half hour later came explosion city. Of course it lasted and lasted. Never realized a person could have so much solid and liquid waste in their body. Doc told me in the morning I get an A+ for how clean my colon was. All is well that ended well.

To change the subject.......

Had a crazy thing happen to me today.
TVG has a website where if you are a member there is a $1000 cash keeper contest every Friday and Saturday.
They give you an actual/real $1000 to start. Then you have to go through 10 "prop" bets on various horse races across the country. You can "wager" whatever you want on the first question. For example, the first question might be will horse #3 finish in the top 2 in the first race at Belmont. You can either bet yes or no - and any dollar amount. So for question 1 if you bet 800 yes and the horse does finish in the top 2 you keep your 800 (you lose 200) and move on to race 2. If the horse doesn't finish in the top 2 then you keep 200 (you lost 800) and move on to question 2.
You can see exactly what I did below and that will help clarify what I am saying.
The crazy thing that happened is I didn't realize I went 10-0 on the props. Had I gone all in on each question I would have been able to keep the entire 1000. I ended up with just 54. That's fine and it's 54 free dollars so I shouldn't be upset.
This was how I wagered by question.
1) 750 yes (it was yes) so I keep 750 and lose 250.
2) 541 yes (it was yes) so I keep 541 and lose 239
3) 476 yes (it was yes) so I keep 476 and lose 65
4) 405 no (it was no) so I keep 405 and lose 71
5) 270 yes (it was yes) so I keep 270 and lose 135
6) 204 no (it was no) so I keep 204 and lose 66
7) 158 no (it was no) so I keep 158 and lose 46
8) 108 no (it was no) so I keep 108 and lose 50
9) 80 yes (it was yes) so I keep 80 and lose 28
10) 54 no (it was no) so I keep 54 and lose 26

Point of my sharing all this is.....
If I had taken the $1,000 and I could actually use that $1000 and bet it on a 10 team/question/prop parlay - I would have won $720,000 today.
That would have equated to a hooker/s and blow party in Lawrence in the near future and you all would have been invited.
Moral of the story, shit happens even when it doesn't happen. Or is it shit doesn't happen even when it does happen?

This one wasn't nearly as bad as the one 5 years ago. I chronicalled that on the .commie. I was in full on panic attack mode going in there. I froze at the door into the prep area and was incapable of following the directions the nurse rattled off. Then it took them 5-10 tries to get the IV in because of dehydration. BP was 195 over 105 and this was after my BP meds. I kept telling them I'm freaking out, it was a Wed and I told them I had nightmares all night on Sunday, could not sleep at all on Monday, and was up with the prep that kicked in wayyy too late on Tues. All they said was, "you'll sleep". Didn't give a shit about my freak out. That time they gave me versed and fentenyl. I remember waking up and being really relieved it was all over. Mrs 99 said that I was sitting in the bed "like a king demanding that the water they gave me was ice cold". I sort of remember that. Kinda funny. Went to Ramsay's for chicken fried steak and mashed taters. I slept all day and missed the KU game that night.

This time with the propofol, I woke up on the way back to the room and had no issues remembering anything. Knees were a little wobbly for an hour or so but other than that nothing. Mrs 99 took me to Ramsay's and I had chicken fried steak and mashed taters. Wasn't great.

Minhin and I are only about 4 degrees apart on our comfort index but we can be stubborn.

Soooo, I was driving around town today with Mrs 99 and she had her radio station on. Old Town Road came on. I had never heard it before. I turned to her and said, "WTF, did that dude just say he's taking his horse to a hotel room?"
