A handoff, to me, is an intentional act.

Otherwise you'd say, OU just handed it off to KU on a fumble.

I've had a slight taste of kool aid.
I think we can win 4 next year.
Which sucks but hey, 4 is more than 1.
I'm optimistic about Liepold.

But I'm saying it'd be a mistake to offer an extension today.

Today helped his tenure package, but didn't cement anything.

Right.

The rb wasn't trying to hand it off. So the second he lost possession, when the qb stripped it, it was a fumble.

Clearly fans should still be able to trash poor football.
And wins are wins so if he shows up next year with a 1-11 season, then yes, another wrong call.
But there were a lot of good play calls today. More than I've seen all season.

Great game. Could only catch snippets, but what a blast to see the Jayhawks go toe-to-toe.

I agree with Newton. Leipold's lookin' good

I give Leipold a D plus up until Saturday morning.

Today was an A plus.
Like a 99.

So maybe averages to a C.

This
"This" what?
Let's be real here. He's the coach of a shit team that is 1-6.
A team that gave up 49, 45, 52, 59, and 41 points in consecutive games.
A team that gave up 35 2nd half points today.
If that's "the guy", I would hate to know what it would take to not be "the guy".

I think how we look next week against OSU is a big litmus test.

Either the TTU game was the outlier or today's game was.

If we're competitive for 3 quarters against OSU then maybe TTU was the aberration. If we get blown out again, then maybe today was a fluke of playing a highly rated team that has a bad defense and completely overlooked us.

We'll see.

Either way it's WAY too early to say anything definitive about Liepold.
Hey, as big of a cynical asshole as I am, I give the players and coaches a lot of credit for today.
Even though it was a loss, I enjoyed watching 3 quarters of KU football. It's been a while since I can say that.

Disagree with "wins are wins", pdub, if it means each loss is the same as every other loss.

Get blasted by TCU or BU? L.

Hang tough w/ OU? L.

Not wins, but our guys learn so much more from one vs. the other. And that's not the same.

I agree gutman.
Beating Texas some time ago and Boston College were somewhat like this but not on the level of no. 3 OU.

1-11 whether you loose by 4 points a game or 28 as a D1 program is still awful.

And you dont get excuses for 1-11 ( or 0-12 ) after your second year. Sorry I dont think you should.

I'm happy that gutter could root for his 15th favorite college team for 3 quarters again.

Yes. Look for progress any way you can this year.

Next year some close games need to become wins.

Liepold gets a bigger break for being hired SO late. But at the same time he inherited a better situation than either Miles or Baty, so he's not on the same timeline.

I would say C+ before today and a B- after today.

There's no argument to be made that it was the right call. Only convoluted excuses for a way to possibly justify it as a standard blown call.
That might be a bit dramatic since it was a play the vast majority of people who saw it have never seen before. It wasn't an egregious mistake at all. Not blowing the play dead on progress is a subjective call. KU benefitted on a 4th and 1 call earlier that they let continue where KU was stopped initially but got it eventually.

Just say you're sick of arguing about it. No biggie.

I can't give a C when a team gets ram jammed by Tech after an even harder ram jam from ISU.

At some point, KU has to stick with a coach for a full recruiting cycle and see where they are. The constant turnover will not help. You find a way to be happy with what was out there today so that the players and staff can try to build on it.

If you beat ksu and WVU next year with two non con wins, you have locked in hard.
