Illinois is a team you don't want to face. Outside shooting. A dominant big down low. Recipe for disaster.
Illinois wouldn't beat Arkansas.

If you needed more proof that the WCC is a garbage conference, look at this shit.

I actually agree with that if the NCAA keeps giving conference tournament winners auto berths.
Regular season matters.

And, to be clear, I actually could buy an argument that this is how the bracket should be for conference tournaments, because it puts more emphasis on the regular season winner, and, as a KU fan, it doesn't give a tough slate to the top dog, which I bitch about a lot when it comes to the Big 12 tourney.
But, stop calling this a "win and you're in" tournament, then.

Agree.
( well, mostly, you still have one last shot! )

Why would Gonzaga ever leave that shithole conference?

Same reason that Texas left a conference that acquiesced to their every demand. (not saying it happens any time soon, different scenarios)

Apologies. Let's get back on track to bitching at each other about partisan politics on this KU sports message board.

Extremely random. ACC has proven to be a top 3 basketball conference for the last 2 decades.

every year it seems, maybe even multiple times a year, there is a discussion about the zags and weakness of the wcc

Conference weakness can be a good thing in that you get a shot to be fresh in the tournament and the kids sometimes stupidly believe their own hype from their beat-down of schools and play with confidence.

if Gonzaga drops the WCC tournament, they will NOT be the overall #1 seed. The door would be open for an Arizona, Auburn, or Kansas team to take it depending on how they also fare in their conference tournaments.
