1-11 whether you loose by 4 points a game or 28 as a D1 program is still awful.
And you dont get excuses for 1-11 ( or 0-12 ) after your second year. Sorry I dont think you should.
At some point, KU has to stick with a coach for a full recruiting cycle and see where they are. The constant turnover will not help. You find a way to be happy with what was out there today so that the players and staff can try to build on it.
I agree.
Doesn't mean that you can say they are doing a good or average job.
We gave Beaty that and he sucked.

No. I'm not sick of arguing about it.
Forward progress CAN be subjective, but that was a clear textbook example of stopped forward progress. That gets called dead 99.9% of the time.
It also wasn't a handoff, if the rulebook doesn't have a definition of what is or isn't a handoff it needs to be corrected immediately.
I don't even agree that the rb hadn't crossed the LOS, though I'll admit that was more subjective that the forward progress.
Wrong call, that simple.

And we would have given it to miles had he not earned the firing with off field behavior.

I'm happy that gutter could root for his 15th favorite college team for 3 quarters again.
Me too.
I don't know about having 14 other teams I root for over KU but unfortunately for me today, Illinois is NOT one of the 14 teams I like more than KU.
I'm not a fan of Bielema and felt he was an asshole this week but he and his squad got a W against a fraudulent top 10 team today. Good for him.

A few weeks ago, Kansas was simply outmatched with a roster full of a lower caliber of talent than basically everyone they played. Today, they hung with #3 in the country.
They didn't get any new players between those times. Gotta give the coaches credit where credit is due. I wish they were able to work magic like today more often but until they fill roster the roster with a higher caliber of player and a depth of talent that can allow you to play well after halftime, we aren't going to be more than this on a regular basis. We'll see what this recruiting season looks like but it doesn't look like it is off to a great start:

https://www.si.com/college/oklahoma/foo ... off-ruling
“The reviewable aspects of the play were position of the ball in relation to the line of scrimmage and if possession was ever lost by the offense,” Burks said in the statement. “The ball never crossed the line of scrimmage and there was never a loss of possession, not a fumble, so this play was a forward hand- off behind the line of scrimmage.”
“That action is allowed under Rule 7- 6- a which states: ‘A Team A back may hand the ball forward to another back only if both are behind their scrimmage line and the player handing the ball forward has not had their entire body beyond the neutral zone.’”

Any defense of that call is merely to say it wasn't as aggregiousely bad as it seemed.
There's no argument to be made that it was the right call. Only convoluted excuses for a way to possibly justify it as a standard blown call.
That might be a bit dramatic since it was a play the vast majority of people who saw it have never seen before. It wasn't an egregious mistake at all. Not blowing the play dead on progress is a subjective call. KU benefitted on a 4th and 1 call earlier that they let continue where KU was stopped initially but got it eventually.
Just say you're sick of arguing about it. No biggie.
Plz refer to this earlier post:
viewtopic.php?t=3921&start=1040
"And the two or three fans on here who say, well, sometime in the third quarter KU got a first down on 4th and 1 where they shoulda called forward progress stopped...go watch that play again. We weren't stuffed for negative yards and moving backwards. We hadn't totally stopped moving forward, even if it was inches of moving forward.
So fuck off."

It's ok to be a fan of a team and feel like you got jobbed by a call. And some calls are more important than others.
twocoach, gutter and illy seem to never accept that. The officials are always right or it "evens" out in a game.
Nah.

CEH hadnt handed the ball off for his whole NFL career but then did it twice in a row this season.

Yes, there were lots of bad calls that game, the missed hold was pretty bad. I'm sure a couple went our way.
You live with those.
But that was the most critical play of the game. Get a stop, and we have 40some yards to go to take a late lead get the first down and OU can almost run out the click.
We got the stop, earned that chance,, and the refs got it wrong, very wrong, in multiple ways.
I just want it decided by the players on the field. The zebras took that opportunity away.

The hold on our TD run to put us up 14.
The no hold call on the OU reverse that got them 60 plus yards.
Not great.
But that last call complete game decider.

The Big Jabb Boston radio mentioned it. I've never heard them talk about KU before.

Sometimes I think of this type of fan as someone who goes to a restaurant or movie.
All of their friends they go with enjoy it. Love it even. This movie was really good. This meal was really good.
Or the meal was really bad. The movie really bad.
Then they speak up. And everyone in the group knows they are gonna.
"Well, I mean......"

Newell has a clip of that ‘hold’. Awful. I found it odd they didn’t show a replay live. Neither on the false start on 33.
Just a poorly job officiating on calls that absolutely swung the game for OU.
We can only wonder what would have happened had KU got the ball back after that 4th down stop (because that is what it was).

We might not have won.
But we had just stormed down the field for a TD pretty easily only a few minutes before.

Very entertaining game. A few calls that I think really hurt KU. I have been a fan of Leipold since he was hired. I think this game is something they will use to show recruits that they can help change the imagine of KU football. Just need to get more depth and coach them up.

That wasn't the same KU team I saw against Tech. No way.
Gosh, if McBride doesn't turn it over and then we all know that the refs blew it on that 4th down call. Damn so close.
Other than a couple of games they have been in it for the half but fall apart in the second. Today was the first time I can remember them taking a punch in the second half and getting right back up. Not only did they respond with a score but IMO they got the stop they needed on fourth down.
Yeah, as much you can say OU sleep walked, which they did the first half KU could have just as easily mailed it in as well. You hate to see refs cheat a team of a chance to do the unthinkable.

Also, it was a bush league play, not a heady one. Reminded me of A-rod yelling, "I got it" at the infielder when he was a baserunning.
What a wimpy way to win a game.
