He's being guarded by Charlie McCarthy, a 6'2" guard. Given that we switch everything out on the perimeter, it's a pretty safe bet that KJ was playing out on the wing in our typical 4-out set. As he did routinely last season.

Football :)

But yes, KJ I think is going to play a lot of 4.

Good post on Grady dick and his shooting.

Might sound weird but I think the best comparison as shooter is brannen Greene. Lol. Brady is a better version of what Greene was recruited to be. A huge wing that just absolutely shoots the lights out

The less KJ has to play at the 5 the better off we are. I am hoping Udeh is ready to play big minutes at the 5 from day 1.

You call KJ a wing, a 4, or a turkey sandwich.

Can't lose something you never had. 😉

Big minutes for him would be 15-20mpg. My hope is that he and Clemence can consume all 40 of the 5 spot minutes. Maybe Clemence is too far ahead of him. But Udeh can do things Clemence can't.

Fair. Im hoping he can give us 15. Zach is probably way ahead of him right now. And play the other 25. Im with you in hoping those 2 play all the 5 spot minutes

But we don't know shit yet. 6th year senior cam Martin could be ahead of him right now. Fellow freshman ejiofor could be more ready than him. Kj could see some minutes at the 5

Udeh undoubtedly in the most physically gifted center on the roster though. But he is probably raw. I think clemence is gonna take a big step forward this season and get a lot of those minutes

If Self says Svi then I'm going to go with Svi. Svi and GD do have similar physical/athletic attributes and can both really stroke off coming off of screens or on pops.

Dick is way more developed than Svi as a freshman, though.

I’m curious to see more KJ at the 5.

And if he’s playing the 4, then where’s Jalen, who’s likely 35+ mpg this season

But Jalen’s been at the 5 some too. As recently as the natty game! (Lulz)

I guess my point is, a KJ/Jalen front court has the potential to run opponents out the gym. At least depending on matchups.

I’m also curious how switching on everybody thing might work. or, perhaps, if we’re not switching 1-4, maybe switch 2-5, maybe even have our small guard box-and-1-ing theirs.

But, whether going big or going small, let’s exploit whatever matchups we can! It still kinda blows my mind that we’ve had big guys who are paradoxically less, not more, effective against small opponents. But I guess that’s the direction the game has gone.

I guess my point is, is it late night yet?

Well selfs comment came in the context of "how to use" a player like Grady dick within the offense. Ochai and svi were the 2 recent elite shooters we've had.

Greene was always high and in trouble and couldn't play defense. Didnt exactly see the floor.

But he was a huge wing with a quick release and unlimited confidence in his jumper. Sounds like that's what we are getting with dick

Greene was quite possibly the slowest side-to-side quickness perimeter player we've ever had. Made Isaiah Moss look like Barry Sanders.

GD is a first round pick. But, I agree he has the best looking stroke we've had coming out of HS since Greene.

Hopefully Dick moves better than Greene. That dude was even stiffer than a phallic joke.

It wouldn't take much for his ball game to be better than Greene too. Dick's got good handles for a big wing, right?

Dick is light years ahead of Greene. The comparison ends at their shooting ability. Huge wings with lethal jumpers quick releases and unlimited confidence dont come around that often

Bill says KM is going to start. Who was the one talking like he wasn't a guarantee to play minutes? Such a weird take.

Mccullar? Could be our best all around player
