Gonzaga doing pretty decent in the coaching and recruiting areas lately...
Apples and Volkswagens.
Maybe not for long.

It would still be different if KU was left out of Power 4. In fact, a non-Power 4 KU might be worse off than Gonzaga from a basketball/financial aspect.

the wealth gap would only increase, which eventually would hamstring KU with worse athletic facilities across the board
b-ball wouldn’t suffer immediately, but would over time, imo
We aren't top 20 in revenue and have elite basketball facilities. That won't change. The huge donors are still the donors. They'll cover the gaps. Basketball will be fine.
Gonzgaga is doing just fine the last 20 years and they don't have near the ability to sustain eliteness as we do regardless of conference.
revenue absolutely changes when conference affiliation changes
KU basketball doesn't operate in a vacuum. tejas and ou leaving the conference will shrink the basketball revenue, just as it does football

We wouldn't be competing against the pro 64 though - only the schools in our organization.
we’d be competing against them for recruits and coaches, would we not?
Do you not watch college basketball because there are better players in the G League and NBA?
I watch more MLS than I do the Premiership, Bundesliga or Serie A.

From the original Big 8:
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Oklahoma State
Time to move on from that.

were you insinuating in your earlier post that the NCAA tourney would go on without the schools in the PAC, B1G, ACC and SEC...that they'd have some other tourney?
if so, then i get your point. but honestly, i'd probably watch less KU hoops if the talent level of the players were to drop off (call me a bad fan if you want). part of the reason i've always watched KU, even before being an alum, was quality. i could be wrong, but eventually the quality would take a hit. so yes, in this hypothetical i'd probably watch less if the quality suffered...both quality of players and quality of games/competition. i don't watch byu, despite being an alum and now living back in the area, because they largely aren't very good relative to KU.

i don't really think that's at all relevant
if you lived in Europe, i could almost guarantee you'd watch more of the latter leagues

It is totally relevant.
There's easy access to watch better leagues.
I prefer to watch the KC Wizards because they are the team I grew up watching.
Doesn't bother me that there are better leagues out there.
Guy in the pub with his Man City scarf drinking Newcastle and using words like tables and fixtures and kits can have at it.

"Kits" is maybe the most annoying word associated with soccer when it comes from an American fan.
BWW Chad has all the Man City kits for sure.

BWW Chad hates soccer.
He thinks it's cool to make fun of it.
He does watch the World Cup though.

i do not believe the pac 10, big 10 and acc when they say they have no plans to expand.

is there? i honestly don't know because i don't tend to watch a lot of soccer
just from recollection of general perusing, it seems like there are more MLS games being televised than any of those other leagues...could be wrong tho

Truth. Seems more likely they try and stretch coast to coast over staying put.

NBC has the Premiership on all the time.
ESPN has the rights to the Bundesliga.

MLS similar setup to MLB. Maybe a little less. A few games a week on national TV, the rest on rsn's.
Euro football has a handful of games on national tv per week, and that's it.
Of course, this isn't counting the premium packages you can buy. But even then, I can easily pay to watch all Sporting KC games and it even comes with the regular cable package (rsn), but I don't think there is a US option to ensure that I have every Liverpool game. I think the closest are streaming services where you get most of the top matches. And, that's just Premier, finding Serie A would be much harder.

i hate to deviate much further, but espn has a huge offering of many leagues as well as ncaa
espn.com/soccer/schedule
i guess, back to realignment, my feeling is that over time, the on-court product will suffer if KU doesn’t get into one of the power 4 conferences...i don’t like, nor want that
i also think that if the SEC had their way, they’d just start paying players outright
i’d like to think that the other three, due to the high academic and research profiles of their member institutions, will push back strongly against wholesale paying of players...academics still matter to some, maybe even the majority, of the schools in the ACC, PAC, and B1G

Maybe there will be academic conferences/alliances that don't identically correspond to the athletic conferences/alliances? Some schools already have that.

That is just the pro soccer schedule around the world. Only matches on TV were the college ones on the various ESPN+ channels.
I agree that we are very spoiled when it comes to watchability of college basketball. Watching other programs, especially mid-majors, is not that great.

I'm pretty sure you can watch every Premiership game this season:

And almost every Bundesliga game this season on ESPN+:
