Went to Fenway last night. First time I had been there for a game.
I don't pick favorites. I don't rank stadiums. I will say, the atmosphere inside and outside the park are fantastic.

I like Wrigley in much this same way...although the crowds in Wrigleyville are Chad-filled, and the spectators inside seem to be very Depaulesque.

Crowds in Wrigleyville are indeed "Chad-filled" but I felt the same was true at Fenwayville.
In regards to the "spectators" inside being "Depaulesque" at Wrigley, I can't help but wonder if you would feel the "spectators" inside at Fenway are BCesque.
I have sat pretty much all over Wrigley. I wouldn't consider most of the "spectators" to be "Depaulesque" but I can understand your feeling that way if you were in certain areas of Wrigley.

My next trip to Boston between April and October I will make an effort to walk around Fenway a lot more. I was pretty much secluded where I was.

Thing I was most surprised about was how structurally similar Wrigley and Fenway are. Which I shouldn't have been surprised about. Considering how they were both built around the same time and there weren't any other baseball stadiums of that magnitude that existed.

Yeah, it was "magical" and the weather was perfect.
I was very happy to have been there and can check it off of my bucket list.

Hard (for me) to rank stadiums.
Here is the somewhat crazy thing. First time I went to Camden I think it was 1993. I felt it was the best ball park in all of MLB at the time.
Now, I might rate it in the bottom half of the stadiums I have been to.

Camden is way up there for me too.
I had a great experience all around when I went.
ALCS. Yordano. Moose. Cain.

Fans were very pleasant even though we were sporting Royals gear.

A bit sketch a couple blocks away from the park though.

Re: Camden. Great park, Baltimore, in general, not a great city to be in.

Gutter: the depaulesque comment came from my last trip where the group behind us was 4 girls, with DePaul shirts on talking about everything and anything for the entirety of the game. It was obnoxious. Of course that probably happens at all ballparks? But this happened TO ME for REALS so of course I deduce that it’s always like that. Because, rational thought, you know.

I love Wrigley. Never been to Fenway, but want to go. I really liked old Rogers stadium, too… and it was a shithole.

Hell of a game between the cross town rivals last night.

0-0 game going in to the 4th. White Sux put up a 5 spot in the 4th against Imanaga.
Flubs scored 1 in the 5th and 4 in the 6th to tie it.
Sux scored 1 in the 7th to take a 1 run lead.
Flubs scored 2 in the bottom of the 8th to take a 1 run lead.
Sux had a runner picked off 2nd base in the 9th.

Turn up your/the volume and give the videos a listen. It was "electric" in Wrigley.

The Royals game at 1:10 today against the Guardians is on ESPN+.

After recent experience, I fully expect there will be some reason why it's blacked out in my area, and it'll be interesting to discover why.

Go Royals!

a different take on the negro leagues era records

NEGRO-LEAGUE PLAYERS DON’T BELONG IN THE MLB RECORD BOOKS

And neither do white players from the segregation era.

(the Atlantic)

The desire to validate the contributions of athletes who were unfairly denied the chance to play in the major leagues is noble. But the change is nevertheless misguided—a way of retroactively integrating Major League Baseball, reducing decades of segregation to a footnote and minimizing the actual discrimination that Black players faced. If the sport really wants to own up to its history, it shouldn’t pretend that Major League Baseball has been one big, happy family all along. Instead of absorbing Negro-league statistics and the mythic figures behind them, the MLB shouldn’t count any statistics—Negro league or major league—accumulated during the era when Black and white players were prohibited from competing against each other...

i disagree

The game in Birmingham was a fun watch. They showed half an inning in black and white as close to a 1953 broadcast as they could get. My sports ball hating daughter even thought that was cool.

Nice mentions of the Monarchs and Negro League Museum, Paige etc.

Really uncomfortable watching this celebration of black athletes take place in Alabama.
