There is no "we're taking the canal back" action that is available to Trump. This is nearly as stupid as the talk over annexing Canada. It's beyond stupid that it is even being discussed.
It’s his thing. Make an outrageous demand so you can get the less outrageous one you were after to begin with. Panama will get the message loud and clear.
One of these days someone is going to say no.
And at that time, then your whole theory of things depends on whether Trump will or will not stick to his guns. And either option is bad for us.
Possible. I appreciate that it is a marked departure from the Obiden foreign policy, which was essentially, “How far do you want us to bend over?” A middle ground would be best, but it is what it is.

So, Panama has sole control of the canal, and with that the enormous expense of maintaining it?
And they had the audacity to charge for its use?
If I were Panama, I would tell the social media tough guy to kick sand. Ship your shit around us.
I see Mexico is planning to build a canal through as well. Mexico should go ahead and tell Cheeto Mussolini to suck on Chuck preemptively

To which Trump can then reply: “Cool. You can kiss that $75 million a year in aid we send you goodbye. Good day, sir.”
He can give a similar retort to Mexico, to the tune of $72 million, plus, won’t be accepting any immigrants and anything that says “Hecho en Mexico” on the label is subject to a 200% tariff.
Attitudes will be adjusted very quickly.

You have such a narrow view of how much all of us - all of us - have benefited from the post-WWII order that you are just giddy to see end.

Somewhere between the end of WWII and today, the American Dream died. We are going to have to take it back.

Among the many problems with your way of thinking is that the people you put in charge would not count you, or any of us reading this, among their “we.”
Even when used in the broadest possible sense.
Someone who thinks economic prosperity is a zero sum game should recognize the implications.

I would assume that a man of your business acumen would understand concepts like leverage and negotiation. Then again, being so clueless and such a looser where matters of success in life are concerned, I must be wrong. I guess we just keep getting screwed over and get used to a crappy economy.

It doesn’t take business acumen to realize that Trump makes these stupid posts simply to rile up the mouth breathers.
He knows he cannot do these things, and that the US economy would fall off the ledge faster than Panama or Mexico would feel pressured.
He does this so that you and your types will still be screaming “USA” while he and the billionaires wheelbarrow all the money out of our coffers.
If it isn’t Panama, it’s Canada…or trans kids… or a movie star.
They have to create boogeymen to make sure you folks point your pitchforks AWAY from them.
You are one of the better crafted cultists here. The fact that your flippant attitude and righteous indignation is at a level of 11 are proof positive that Bannon knew exactly how this will play out.

That is funny coming from you.
I negotiate nearly every day. I have been in top level management of companies that do 90-900 million in annual revenue.
It isn’t a persona, it’s just me.
But please, keep flailing.

I am not bent out of shape at all.
I want this country to succeed.
I also know that you and your types will still be saying the boat is fine, even when your socks are wet.
You are ok, cause the Orange Oracle and Captain Musk told you so.

1.) You always feel the need to give me (among others) your resume'. That says a lot more than you realize. And it's not good.
2.) You use the past tense a lot when doing so. That also says a lot.
3.) You (wrongly) assume that your experience and knowledge trumps (no pun intended) that of everyone else, when you know next to nothing about the people you keep trying to insult and belittle.
I'll trust men like Trump and Musk who see $900 million as pocket change. If that's flailing in your book, I guess I'll just find a way to keep existing somehow.
