Man, I keep checking local media waiting for an update about the fire up near Rollins Pass.
Ideally we’d hear “Rollins Pass fire contained” or “Rollins Pass fire completely extinguished by drunk bros who pissed it out” but nothing yet.
That’s just a few miles south of my house, right across the highway from the ski resort, and coincidentally the spot we planned to backpack this weekend.
*nervously twiddles thumbs*

Glad they aren't making news. Hopefully, they won't in the future.

Yeah, good way to think about it.
And let’s hope we *actually* get some of that rain in the forecast.
And it actually actually rains, and doesn’t just get windy as eff and grow in to the biggest fire in state history in a matter of one gusty afternoon. I’ve already seen that movie. Two thumbs down.
It’s a bad spot for a fire too, with lots of beetle kill pine scattered around like one big tinder box.

fingers crossed for you guys, Ousie
we’ve had rain forecasted several days this past week, but nothin worth mentioning for accumulation. it’s mostly just enough to spot up the windshield
fuck some bark beetles. but, that’s what happens when forests get overgrown and aren’t permitted their normal cleansing cycle

Check the sheriff’s tweeter to see any updates about the fire to the south, but instead they’re reporting flash floods and a mudslide has the road closed to the north, within the east troublesome burn scar from last fall. Not the first time that area had to close cuz of mudslides this season

this just seems so short-sighted and irresponsible
ALL NET, a $4 billion Las Vegas resort & arena, says they’ll finally break ground in October
there just seems to be such a disconnect between entities pushing this sort of development with the goings on in the “natural”/real world
