it actually makes perfect sense for there to be a correlation if you’ve got an ounce of logic

those who trust or understand the science are more likely to be vaccinated. those same people are probably more likely to trust the science (and their physicians) outside of a pandemic, and do things like practice preventative medicine and follow their doctors’ orders (regular checkups, taking full regimen of prescription, etc.)

Throw me in the skeptical bucket on that.

Soon covid shots will make us all live forever! Whatever it takes to convince people to continue getting them i guess.

Can you confirm that you pay for The Economist and actually read the article?
Can you?

So, in closing, smarter/healthier people are getting the vaccine.

It's not the vaccine causing them to die less frequently of other causes.

Did Trad or the article make that claim?

"Now a recent report from the Centres for Disease Control (cdc) in America has produced a novel, and even mysterious, reason to be glad for a covid-19 vaccination. The cdc data show that people vaccinated with the Pfizer or Moderna covid-19 jabs are one-third as likely to die of other causes too."

That's not claiming causation.

Nope. Not directly. But imo it doesn't help. Floating it out there like that gave me a serious eye roll.

Wonder why the left the J&J out?

Right, so you're fighting/arguing a claim no one made?

Not a member of the economist. But I saw a similar statistic about the flu vaccine.

One thing to remember is that these very strong inflammatory events, like covid or the flu, take a toll on the body even when not lethal. The more you can avoid them or lessen their severity, the longer and healthier your life will likely be.

Then i wish the article would have started with "smarter healthier people are more likely to get the vaccine".

Imo it was very intentional for the title to make it seem like the shot was helping people not die from other things. And very intentional for the pay wall cutoff to be where it was.

Just my opinion. I don't disagree with the logic or correlation that healthy smart people are more likely take care of their health and be smart enough to get vaccinations.

What exactly are you skeptical of?
Causation vs correlation

We don't need to go in circles about it.

You’re skeptical that there is a difference between causation and correlation?

Or you’re just to stubborn to admit you were wrong and, again, made up arguments for other people?

LOL exactly. That's why i think the article/title is stupid.

It should say "smart people and healthy people do smart and healthy things and die less of things study finds"
