I still can't believe the freaking Chiefs are about to play in back to back Super. Bowls.

Today at around 12:00pm I was at the Nike store wearing my Chiefs Super Bowl hat.
A guy who works in the store asked me if I heard the Super Bowl was being postponed a week. I gave him a "child please" look. I asked him where he heard it and he said on the radio.
Of course I instantly looked on my phone and found NOTHING about it being postponed.
Made me think who/what it would take for the Super Bowl to be postponed. I wonder if Brady and/or Mahomes had the virus - would the Super Bowl still be played THIS Sunday. What an effing disaster that would be.

Long post alert...

Everyone talking about this rain that might happen. If it does, suppose to be cleared out by about 5 Eastern. And even the rain that is before that will be about a 1/10th of an inch.

I think the Chiefs OL thing is being way overblown. Chiefs have had 2 weeks to figure it out. They even struggled against a better DL with San Fran last year's Super Bowl and that was with a full cast. And Mahomes struggled a bit but came through with a big 4th quarter. Chiefs with the shuffle at OL are now better up the middle, but weaker on the edges. Mahomes can make some things happen when things aren't perfect. They'll roll the pocket, they'll chip with the RBs to slow down the pass rush and they'll be able to do some good things on offense. I expect CEH to have a nice game as Tampa doesn't have the best guys at LB with pass coverage. Don't let the INTs that White had against the Saints fool you, those balls were right too him. Nothing he really did to cause that. I expect the Bucs to bracket Hill a bit and also shade some help towards Kelce, so Sammy and RBs better be ready.

Spags has something that works against Brady. He blitzed Brady 50% of the time in week 12, and it worked pretty well as the Chiefs got out to a big lead. Chris Jones causes havoc for Brady up the middle and he lets Brady know about it too. They have scream at each other every week. The Chiefs secondary has been top notch the last 2 playoff runs. They are all clicking and Sneed is even more of a utility guy than Badger is. He'll cover a #1, he'll cover the slot, he'll blitz off the corner. He can do everything. Fournette is really good catching the ball out of the backfield. That will be something to watch as that has been an Achilles heel for Chies for a while. Gronk also had 100 against the Chiefs in week 12 and has not had over 30 yards in a game since. Bucs will have to go for it on 4th down to have a chance. Can't kick FGs or punt on 4th and short.

Don't expect many punts Sunday. Butker might drill a 50 yarder or two. Their kicker is decent too. So that may be a wash.

I just think the Chiefs are more talented and have better coaching compared to Tampa. I think weather will be a non-factor, and even if it was, Chiefs have done well in snow and rain games over the last few years, so they'll be fine.

Chiefs race out to a 24-10 lead at half. They hit a big play or two but are mostly methodical. Brady throws a pick that Badger gets and leads to a short field.

Chiefs end up coasting to a 38-27 win. A top 10 team in NFL history. Starters went 14-1, didn't have much

Mahomes throws for 300. 1 rushing TD.
Hill has 60 yards
Kelce has 75 yards with 2 TDs.
CEH and Williams combine for 100 yards on the ground and 2 TDs.
Badger and Dirty Dan with an INT each.

Brady has 300 yards has he plays catch up. He gets sacked 4 times, hit 7 times. Throws 2 INTs.
Fournette has a good game for Tampa. 150 all purpose yards with 2 TDs.
Evans and Goodwin are quiet but Gronk and AB have a good day.
Bucs don't get as much pressure as they hope and Mahomes is able to pick them apart a bit.

Kelce gets the MVP to cap one of the greatest season by a non-QB that the league has ever seen.

Same on ESPN. They 93 people pick. 69 (nice) picked the Chiefs and 24 picked the Bucs.

Nostalgia, sappy, call it what you want. Grew up a Chiefs fan. Suffered through the pain and agony of the Marty years. The Vermeil years. The crappy Haley, Pioli years. The bottom for me was the playoff game against the Steelers during the Alex Smith era. Third down and Boob Sutton puts Justin FREAKING Houston on AB and they convert to win. I can remember laying on the floor of my house in Denver asking my then girlfriend why I even cared about the Chiefs. They were never, ever going to accomplish anything.
Fast forward and now, as you mentioned they are playing in back to back Super Bowls. Its hard to fathom what kind of energy Patrick Mahomes has brought to this organization. We talk glowingly about Andy Reid but he still was the 'can't win the big one' Andy Reid until he got 15. Once 15 arrived it changed EVERYTHING.
We as Chiefs fans are living in the golden era that has never been seen before and for me, personally to be a part of it while living in the OP / KC area is so freaking cool. The energy in the city, despite being in the middle of the pandemic you can feel it. The Chiefs have given at least my family every Sunday or Monday or Thursday a chance to forget about everything going on and just enjoy watching the best player in the game and a team that looks like they genuinely love playing the game and being around one another.

Same here except I moved out of Missouri in 1985. Between the unwatchably terrible years and the agonizingly close but no cigar years, it has been emotionally exhausting being a Chiefs fan for the last 40+ years. I feel like Chiefs fans endured enough nut kicks to say they have earned these glory years.

i moved to Lawrence in the early 90s and instantly became a Chiefs fan (somewhat similarly with the Royals, and definitely with the Jayhawks)

shitty for me though, as the first time i left lawrence (for grad school) the Royals end up winning the WS...i move back for a few years, then move away again and the Chiefs end up winning the SB

It is cool being in the city right now with everyone being Chiefs crazy but I loved walking around Denver, running errands and going to bars in my Chiefs gear. Guaranteed I would get good natured ribbing and hazing from Broncos fans. That was fun. If you like that kind of attention it made you stand out.

Walking around in Chicago wearing Chiefs gear I get a lot of "Go Chiefs".
Some teams are just not likable. The Chiefs are NOT one of them.

On another note, Brady is due to throw a pick in the red zone. Will Mathieu be the guy to get one?
I would love to see someone "unsung" (Hamilton?) do it.

Right now the Chiefs are not the villain's of the NFL. They win a couple more SBs they very well could. At least right this is a fun team to watch and having 15 as the QB you can't help but not like that guy.

Its phenomenal. I no longer have to hide my yearly Nike Chiefs merchandise from my wife. Now, she just wants something. I can live with that compromise.

I think it has to do with the other side having Terrific Tom.

Heard a lot of chatter about the majority of the country rooting for both Cleveland and Buffalo. Not necessarily because the Chiefs are villains, but more because they are Goliath.

People up here in New England were rooting for Cleveland, Buffalo and now, even more so, Tampa.

I would expect that this matchup is what 345 Park Avenue wanted while the ink was still wet on Brady's contract.

When Henne comes in wearing Steve Fuller’s number and you shudder a little? You are a true Chief’s fan.

No question.

Really, they were in great shape when the NFC came down to GB/TB

You could have made a lot of money picking the Jets/Lions to make the SB. In a parallel universe.

I would also guess that (non-KC/TB/NE) young Gen Y and Gen Z fans are something like 80% pulling for Mahomes.

Mahomes is the football equivalent of Steph Curry like 5 years ago. Every young fan was shooting 3s and saying Steph Curry. Now every kid throws a no-look pass, or on the run or as far as they can and they yell Mahomes!
