Zags 10th.
But 1st in offense.
KU 59th.

Still haven't had a game where Ochai, CB and Jalen are all clicking at once since West Va.

Would be nice for that to happen in the tournament, and preferably not on Saturday.

Defense travels better than offense. Even more so in an empty football stadium I would think.

Really curious where the 2nd round game would be.

First round game against Eastern Washington in a 6,500 seat arena. Which is not ideal for Kansas. But they are rotating sites so no one will play in same spot twice.

KU lacked numbers or forced some transitions into the lane against the Zags earlier this year, while the Zags couldn’t miss in the same opportunities—that was the difference in a good game. Transition defense was always a Self strength that others have taken to heart

Wilson did not travel, obviously, to Indy per Jeff Goodman.

Not expected to be available Saturday, but no mention one way or the other about Monday.

Going to be a battle between TGF and Tristan on who will play. Who knows what shape Tristan will be in being a potential positive and being away for a week and a half.

Maybe a good game for TGF to get some minutes and get confidence up.

I think you try and get 25 minutes out of DMac if you can.
Play Marcus, Bryce, Ochai and Braun.
Harris and Lightfoot bench.

7 deep.

I had thought I read Self saying there’s a good chance we wouldn’t have Tristan or Dave on Saturday?

I am NOT an Illini fan but this kid is a winner (heart and soul) and one I feel our coaching staff should have gone after harder.

“We think we are knock on wood as good as shape as we can be in,” Self said in a media availability Sunday night. “We had a situation following the Oklahoma game on Friday morning but everybody else has tested negative daily and sometimes more than once a day. We expect to have McCormack and Enaruna unless something happens.”

I think all Self said is that they'll come later in the week. But he was hopeful that they would both play. Final stages of protocol and likely to arrive in Indy Thursday or Friday.

He sounded more optimistic yesterday than he had over the last few days.

But regardless, TGF needs to step up in a big way, cause I think he'll play.

So much stuff floating around, that I might have mistaken practice availability for games. Still sounds like there are some hurdles, but it's looking good. Not that it should particularly matter for Saturday's game, but getting them back in the lineup before Monday is ideal.

Monday is the day that Kansas needs the full compliment the most.

No DMac, Enaruna and Wilson would matter even against Eastern Washington.
Otherwise you have only Mitch in the trenches against their CPOY Murphy.

Why wouldn't you be able to get 25 minutes out of McCormack, if he's eligible?

Big Sky Tournament Champions as the 2nd seed
110 Kenpom, 114 NET
Losses: @ Washington State, @ Arizona, @ Oregon
Best win: v Southern Utah

They played Washington State and Arizona close, both were 3 point losses, were blown out at Oregon.
The Eagles play relatively fast, with the 30th largest adjusted tempo in D1, are excellent free throw shooters as a team ( 79.9% 6th ) and shoot very well from 2PT range ( 54.2% 33rd ). They are one of the worst teams in the NCAA at forcing turnovers ( 302nd in the nation ).

Coach Shantay Legans took the Eagles to 1st place in the Big Sky last season before the tournament was cancelled.
He has a 75-48 (.610 ) record in 4 years.
Image

Tanner Groves ( Spokane, WA ) is the Big Sky player of the year.
Junior 6'9 235, forward.
16.4 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 55.7% FG
Image

Tyler Robertson ( Melbourne, AUS ) comes off the bench.
Sophomore 6'6 200, guard
11.3 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 3 APG, 37.8% 3FG.
Image

Tanner's younger bro Jacob plays on the team.
They play 7 guards in rotation and 1 forward, Tanner - though Jacob looks to play a forward's role, at 6'7.
Both brothers will shoot from 3.
Tanner and Tyler look like they should be locked up for storming the capital on January 6th.

I see KU blowing this team out or I can see us in a dog fight because these guys are really good free throw and 3 pt shooters.
Because theyre white and have beards? Racist.
No, because they look like the famous photo of the guys storming the capital.

Guess Wilson has said on an instagram live video that there is a slim chance he is able to play Monday, if all things go right.

I have ZERO idea what if any repercussions there could be by Wilson giving updates on his Covid situation but my guess is it's probably better he NOT post about it on social media than if he does post about it.
So..... Is this another example of Self not getting through to his players to stay the fuck off of social media if/when it can negatively impact them, the team, and the university?
