But, say that the media scouts are a year too early on him and the NBA scouts all give him a 2nd round grade this year. Then I think he can absolutely come back and work his way into the 1st.

Absolutely.
Then Zach Clemence the year after that.
And Bobby Pettiford the year after that.

Zach, maybe. Dude has size and a shot.
Bobby would pretty much need a BIFM type college season to even sniff the league, and even a BIFM college season is no guarantee of nba success.
But if Bobby wants to go all BIBP on us, I’m all for it.

Best comparison I see to Braun, in terms of their skills, size and game at the same age, would be Jimmy Butler.
Of course, Butler became better than anyone expected. I'm not saying Braun will be that good.

Whoa, you can't compare a white player to a black player!
Go with Chase Budinger instead.

Fun fact - Daryl Morey had a rule that you could only compare white players to black players. He found his scouts were too affected by color.
I think that's happening here with Braun and the seeming lack of concern about his shooting.

Yes, and probably undervaluing his athletic ability.

I can only speak for myself, but I'd have to say it's mostly his mechanics, his frosh 3pt% and his FT%.
Not to mention almost every NBA player, white or black, becomes a better perimeter shooter after they enter the league.

How does that work for G-league guys? They sign with a team for a year, and then they can be drafted? I'm thinking of MJ Rice, and I wonder if his not being on the list makes him more or less likely to actually come to KU.

I was a little surprised Rice wasn't mentioned in the top 58 (2 less picks next year because of sanctions).
But, yes, G-League Ignite are eligible for draft after one season.

Has Rice actually said G League is a legit option he's still looking at? It's just weird he seems to be the only one people are worried about, but not Dick or Udeh.

I don't think he has publicly said much lately.
Just from what I understand, his entire college recruitment and commitment have long been kind of not been taken seriously because his camp has made it sound like his path will be through professional leagues.
He did sign an NLI, though, so if he plays college, it will be at KU.

Isn't Rice visiting KU this weekend?
I wouldn't think he would if he wasn't planning on coming.

Do you know if its an official or unofficial visit?
Because, I wouldn't turn down a free trip to Allen to watch a game. But if he's footing the bill, yeah, maybe that's a good sign.

Even if it’s a free trip, it’s a good sign that he wants to spend time in Lawrence either way, right?

I think he already took an official, so it's "unofficial."
But, I doubt he's working extra shifts at Kroger for the expenses.

Oh shit.
How soon is too soon to get that NIL going?
