We can kinda thank Texas Tech for knocking BYU out for this weekend but very impressive:
Teams with consecutive seasons of getting a Top 4 seed in the NCAA tournament.
KU - 23
Purdue - 4
Baylor - 4
Arizona - 3
Tennessee - 3
UConn - 2
Houston - 2
Marquette - 2
Alabama - 2
The Jayhawks have the longest streak of getting a Top 4 seed in NCAA tournament history.

Not gonna lie, if this team was say in Boston, an hour and a half away, and playing Thursday at 10 my interest level would be very low.
It'd probably take good seats for free to get me there.

I like Purdue as our 1.
I even like Tennessee as our 2.
So yes, our top teams in our bracket are favorable.
But on a team that's been on a downward path since the first week in January we should be concerned more about our first opponents than the future ones.
Yes. When I said I like this bracket, I meant the matchups with the higher seeds don't scare me.
Our first weekend will be really tough. If our opponent gets hot and we struggle to shoot it, we are done.
But if we can sneak out of the first weekend, we will have some momentum and I don't feel athletically intimidated by any of those teams in our bracket

same can be said for almost every single game in the tournament.

Samford are pretty terrible rebounders and have a very low block rate.
Undersized/not that athletic.
They'll be pressing most of the game - so hopefully that stretch of just terrible ball control is past us - and they'll also be pushing the tempo.
Can Elmarko be an asset here?

Hunter over 10 rebounds.
Furphy over 7.

Almost feels like - and of course I know we won't do this - a 3-2 with McCullar at the top.

If things start to go south, Self would be wise to do something like this.

He's gone over 10 in just 4 of our last 10 games.
But yes, vs these guys, you don't have an excuse.
They are 6 foot 6 and 6 foot 9 at the 4/5.

There are scenarios where <10 would be acceptable. Especially one where we're up 20 at the under 12:00 and Self pulls him!
But even setting that aside, long shots = long rebounds.

Diamond boi isn't Edey but Edey had 11 rebounds in 20 minutes.
VCU's 2 bigs, who average 4 and 6, had 10 and 9.
Samford sucks it on the glass - we gotta bully them.
If we aren't feeling the 3's, let's not go 4-22 or some shit, just keep going inside.

If he had been a 22 and 12 guy, instead of an 18 and 10 guy, we'd be better off, and I'd dislike him less.
But that might have required some effort.
