Self teams often look worse early in the season than they’ll be, and cal’s teams often look better early than others

Absolutely true about Self teams. Especially considering we only had 2 guys playing who really have meaningful experience at KU.

Wagner and Fland were impressive. And several of their key contributors came from UK and are familiar with Cals system.

I just watched the Self interview. Was interesting to hear him say Clemence will be a 5-10min guy, but at the 4. And that Bidunga is a backup. Squashing any hopes of my dream of he and HD out there together.

It's true. It's cause calipari allows his guards more freedom to create, and selfs guys have to learn to thrive within a system, which takes longer. But once they figure it out, self is the GOAT of x's and O's

Clemence was very disappointing. I think he will be the back up 4 early in the season. Eventually falls completely out of the rotation unless there is foul trouble

if you mean cal’s offense is simpler, then i’d agree

I think jamari does redshirt. With moore and Griffen back shortly there just isn't minutes. Passmore appears to be good enough to play some already.

I like David coits game a lot. He's just so tiny, that he will be hard to play with some lineups

Self continually says elmarko was the best athlete on the team. I think we miss his defense. Would have been fun seeing him match up against those lightning quick guards of Arkansas.

Shakeel moore is another one of our best athletes. Maybe he can fill that void

Yes. It is. In October, simpler is good

We aren't submitting an essay for a final here. It's not that serious

Maybe. Ours is pretty simple and repetitive too. At least when there are this many newcomers, a total non shooting 4, and no post presence to throw the ball to.

We definitely miss his defense and speed. Even if he is a walking turnover as a ballhandler.

Ehhh. He improved a lot during the course of the season. I'd hope that would disappear as a sophomore. I guess next season we may find out

I actually think it got worse towards the end of the season because his role increased with KM out, but I could be misremembering.

Looking at his game logs, it definitely didn't get better. It stayed pretty awful all year long. Had games with 4 turnovers and 5 turnovers in March.

22 of his 50 turnovers occurred from January 30th until our last game March 23rd. Which is our last 14 games of a 34 game season.

I do think it'll get better. And I do think he'll contribute next year. I like Elmarko and I believe what Self says about him.

I just meant his game as a whole improved. We were also playing our toughest competition then. But like the say the best thing about freshman... they become sophs

yeah, he looked raw as a freshman, but so do most freshmen. And yea, they become sophomores.

I honestly think Elmarko was supposed to be a big part of this season's rotation

Also, Dajuan looked really good last night offensively. 11-17 and thats with 2 or 3 missed layups.

I hate these games. If Self wants to conduct a charity, use AFH. This actually harms the team and amps up the opposition. Illinois thanks both football and basketball.

He said that he and Calipari originally came up with the idea for NIL purposes and that somewhere along the lines it got turned into "charity purposes". I don't know exactly what he means by that. Maybe they found out it was against the rules? Are there rules? Aren't we doing an NIL game in Vegas against Duke? All questions I had listening to his post game comments.

Self and Calipari seem to like each other and share a mutual respect. Self also went out of his way to say how this Arkansas team is better than "some, but not all" of his Kentucky teams. That wasn't done on accident. UK fans were nasty to Cal when he left (and before), just as Illinois fans were nasty to Self when he left for KU. So I think that was a little bit of a middle finger to UK fans.
