This is me as well.
In a weird way, it's nice to be good enough now to have high enough expectations to actually be disappointed. If that makes sense.

Even the elite programs have disappointing years where they underperform to preseason expectations. We definitely had one this season. It happens. It's sports. We play 20-30min of game time better this season and it's a totally different vibe.

I think it's okay to be disappointed.

I think it's silly to assume football is going to immediately turn into basketball where we almost never have a hugely disappointing season.
I refuse to get comfortable with losing.

We have the Division 3 Wizard as a HC and by far the worst DC in the Big 12 as well as Grimes.

Good Luck

As Illy pointed out, the fact that we can feel disappointment shows how far we have come.

I just cannot understand how so many folks act like the world has ended because of how their sports team performs.

Pro tip, create a life where you find your own joy. Get out and do shit.

Try enjoying sports as ENTERTAINMENT, not as a barometer of how your life is going.

Dude these are games. All in good fun.

However if you enjoy losing...well some us like to win.

I'm going to say it.
I don't understand your need to be an asshole in those regards. You continuously put the guy down for things I feel he doesn't deserve to be put down for. There are enough things for you to concentrate on that he does deserve to be put down for. ;)
Plus.....
A. If I am not mistaken, you're on you're second wife.
B. This may be a difficult concept for you and your uber successful ass to understand but many people feel those who work multiple jobs are actually winners.

Moving on......

Impossible to know who will be on our roster but we know some key 2024 players won't be on the 2025 roster. If I have to predict W&L I will go with 3-9.

2025 Kansas Football Schedule
Fresno State Bulldogs - Home
Wagner Seahawks - Home
Missouri Tigers - Away
Arizona Wildcats - Away
Iowa State Cyclones - Away
Utah Utes - Home
Oklahoma State Cowboys - Home
Kansas State Wildcats - Home
Cincinnati Bearcats - Home
West Virginia Mountaineers - Home
Texas Tech Red Raiders - Away
UCF Knights - Away

The wonderful thing is you don't need to understand what being a fan means and doesn't mean to others.
There are various reasons why people who are dedicated fans get highly emotional over wins and losses. Some valid reasons, some not so valid reasons.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/fanatic

Amateur tip - People can and do get joy from other things in their lives (besides supporting sports teams but supporting sports teams is a big part of their lives.
Just as people and and do get sorrow from other things in their lives.
Whether they "get out and do shit" or not.
Supporting sports teams is/are something I have taken great joy in - and sorrow in. That's me. Doesn't have to be you or anyone else.

I do enjoy sports as entertainment - but at the MOMENT/S and soon after big wins and big loses it is how my life is going at those MOMENTS and soon after. Soon after those wins and loses, I move on with my life.
Some of the most enjoyable moments of my life were being with friends and family celebrating big victories. The bad loses, sucked for a little while (less than 24 hours) but I moved on.

Yikes. Some out of bounds shit going on in here.

The wife and jobs stuff, I really don’t get why we’d go there. It feels icky.

Joking in good fun is one thing, but that’s not what this was (seemingly). Carry on, though. But fuck.

Thanks, Gutter. For all the things wrong with me, I’m not a quitter. I’ll keep plugging away, doing what I have to do, regardless of whether or not some people view it as up to their standards of success.

It’s pretty standard for a couple of folks. One is a decent guy with occasional lapses; the other is beyond help. I banter with the former and have had the latter on IGNORE for months now. It’s all good.
