So do I.
I just don't that tipping a barber, who likely makes a certain wage ( $11 - 15? ), is 100% necessary ( while it is definitely nice to do so ).
A person who is making 3.50 an hour as a base is depending on tips.

I always tip Uber and Lyft drivers.

I do as well.
But not 20%.
I get why people don't tip uber and lyft drivers though - the model was intended to eliminate tips - you as an individual can decide whether you think they aren't being comp'd enough.

I just add 5 bucks a trip.

I give fishing guides 5 bucks every time I catch a fish. It incentives them. They know how to make me cast better and mend the line better, but will they? 5 bucks says they will.

So we recently started selling pocket knives in the shop.

They started out on the counter until, almost daily, folks would come in - parents and little kids alike - and couldn’t help but promptly grab one and slice it across their finger to see if they’re sharp. And, surprise! They are! Now y’all’s bleeding all over the shop.

So management heeded my suggestion to keep the display behind the counter from now on, right next to the first aid kit.

ousdahl wrote: Sun Jul 07, 2019 11:34 am Hi, we wanna book one of y’all’s fly casting lessons on the pond. But if we do will we catch fish?

While we can’t guarantee you’ll catch a fish, if you listen to your guide and make an effort to learn how to cast, then it’s likely you will catch fish.

Well we’re mostly just worried about catching fish. Do we have to know how to cast to do that?

Yes sir, you do. We encourage approaching the lesson as a learning experience more so than simply just as a chance to catch a fish. You’ll find it much more enriching and enjoyable, and make it more likely you’ll catch a fish.

Well we’re on vacation and not trying to learn anything. So what can y’all do to make sure we catch a fish?

Well sir, have you considered a zip line tour instead?
Lol, I had a guest throw a tantrum, and subsequently got lectured by management, cuz I started today’s lesson with “now let’s approach this casting lesson with the end game of learning how to cast instead of just catching a fish. If we focus on a good cast then the odds of getting a bite will increase.”

WHAT! We just wanna catch a fish! What kind of a lesson is this?! Where’s y’all’s manager, we’re demanding a refund!

Where’s y’all’s size XL souvenir shirts?

It’s on the rack with the sign that says size XL souvenir shirts, ma’am.

Ohh, gotcha. I guess I didn’t notice the shirts cuz the sign was in the way!

We’re so excited for our fishing trip with y’all! What time did we schedule the trip to start, again?

I’m excited too! Our trip is scheduled for 9am.

Sounds good! Now we know we’re not supposed to be late for fishing, so when should we arrive?

If you want to be here promptly at 9am, that’ll work.

Okay, so we shouldn’t show up early? What if we just got there at 8 instead?

Well, if you’d prefer to start the trip at 8, then we can certainly do that. Would you prefer to start at 8?

Ok! So when should we be arrive, then? We don’t want to be late!

Let’s do 8am if that works for you.

Sure does! See y’all then!

The guests arrived at 7.

You need to change the name of the resort to something other that Camp Moron.

Early or late, it’s that something about tourism makes tourists think the laws of reality are suspended.

Why should it be so difficult to schedule 9am and show up at 9am?

If they’re early, great, better than being late. But just understand the service may not be quite ready for you yet, since y’all are the ones who failed to show up when you were supposed to.

If you’re late, just understand that you’re being charged the same amount, and the service isn’t always going to be able to add time at the end of your trip to make up for the fact that y’all are the ones who failed to show up when you were supposed to.

Hi, we’re interested in yall’s fly fishing lessons. What can y’all tell me about that?

Hi ma’am, we’d be glad to have you for a lesson. We offer the lessons on our pond, and as far as the fishing on the pond goes, morning and evening is better. The fish can take an afternoon siesta on a warm summer day.

Okay. Can we do an afternoon lesson then?

Ummm sure. When would you like to schedule that?

Do yall have openings for this Sunday? And btw we have a big group.

Umm this Sunday we have another big group already scheduled for a lesson at 3, but we could do any time before or after that.

How about 1?

Sounds good, we’ll schedule you for 1. Can we do anything else for you today?

Yeah, just one more thing...

What’s that, ma’am?

Can y’all change our lesson time to 3?

I can kind of understand the psychology of wanting to go the only time it’s not available, cuz high end resort full of entitled tourists used to getting their way.

But why the eff would somebody want to do something at the least opportunistic time??

Now we’ll have to deal with a guest tantrum on Sunday about how they paid a bunch of money for a lesson and yall’s guides didn’t even put us on no fish.

Ugh, just had to go chew out my first airbnbers.

They didn’t get in til like 10pm, and woke my early shift working ass up right as I was nodding off. Then they just kept getting louder and louder, until now, when I went up and pounded on the door and said sorry but it’s damn near 1am and I gotta wake up to work in 5 hours so YALL NEED TO SHUT UP.

Ugh.
