AT THE TIME, I was also needed by my elderly legitimately compromised mother and my sister who lost her husband (a month before that) who was in the hospital. Do you feel I shouldn't have given a shit about them and I shouldn't have felt the need to stay healthy FOR THEM?

Are you referring to me? Or are you referring to any number (from 1 to 500) of the other employees in my company? I ask because if you think I am whining - you're right. I feel extremely justifiably so in this case.
If you think I pretend to be sick and milk the system - you are 100% wrong. I have taken probably a grand total of 20 sick days in 16 years of working for the company. 9 of those were for when I had my appendix removed and had complications after the surgery and 5 of them were when I had a Mallory-Weiss tear and was in the hospital for 4 days. The other 6 or so days were because I was legitimately sick with stomach flu and other health issues. Not once did I pretend to be sick and "call off" from work.
If you think I am (and get) ticked off at people who don't follow rule/requirements - you're right. Guilty as charged. I don't think that's a bad thing but maybe you do.
If you were referring to any other employee/s in my company, so be it. None of us are perfect.
My OPINION is that my employer does put up with too much bullshit from the employees. I can harp on it or I can just worry about myself. I have done both at times but I have since learned it's best for me to put up and shut up and only worry about myself. Even if what other people do (and don't do) negatively affect/s me and my role at the company AND also the company as a whole.

If you had told me 10 years ago that we would be here, I would not have believed it. But here we are, "conservatives" are drinking their own piss as an alternative to getting an "experimental" vaccine.

I'm currently sitting at home dealing with work compliance (political contributions and declarations of financial transactions) and it's mundane.
Taking breaks and being on here has been a respite - and a diversion from my stressing about my mother's move tomorrow. One nice thing is there is an incredibly beautiful sky to look at as the sun begins to start setting. I'll try and post some pics.

i’ve had beautiful sunsets of late as well. unfortunately, the aesthetic is largely due to a temperature inversion and pollutants getting trapped down in the valley

Now that I think about it, every person I know that has had a bad experience with Covid was not a marijuana user...
If you think about it, and squint your eyes when you look at it, weed is the solution to many health issues. And if it's not, well....my wife still thinks I am even more fun now than when it was illegal and I had no access to it.

Actually, my dad says one of this childhood buddies or whatever just got diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
Dude is in his 70s, and my dad says, with a cautionary tone, it came from the fact the guy smoked joints daily since he was like 15.
Of course, my response was, “whoa that dude blazed every day for like 60 years straight, now THAT is a life well-lived!”
