It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the 2022 elections. Who will voters blame for this mess?
simple. uncle joe is sitting in the big chair. uncle joe made a lot of promises. the buck stops with uncle joe.
so you and your fellow pubs are going to lay all the blame at Biden’s feet, even though a large swath of you have fought nearly every mitigation strategy for the past two years?
what am i thinking…of course you will, because you don’t have a combined ounce of integrity among you

For you maybe, but I am not so sure the swing voters are all so simple minded. The evidence is anecdotal, but the lines at the HyVee to get covid vaccine is getting longer each week in KC. Maybe it is all people getting their boosters. And maybe it is people who have had a "come to Jesus" moment and are getting on board with "experimental" vaccines. One party has been actively encouraging vaccinations and one has been actively spreading disinformation and adding question marks. Some of the less simple minded may have noticed that.

I suppose it does come down to “swing voters”
But bear in mind, swing voters are the types of folks who see one side encouraging vaccines and practical health precautions, and the other side spreading disinformation and throwing toddler tantrums.
And somehow, swing voters look and think, I’m just having a hard time telling a difference between these two choices.

But seriously, at this point what options do they have? Their public opinion/spiritual advisor Tucker has doubled down on vaccine disinformation and they have to keep him appeased. The Republican playbook has been based upon sabotaging the system and then claiming that the system failing is proof that the system can't work. Why would they change that now? Even in the face of a large number of their constituents dying because of the sabotage. Every cause needs some martyrs.

So Roger Marshall is now pushing for legislation he is calling the "Fauci Act" requiring public disclosure of financial documents. Upon hearing this one of my wife's coworkers at the college sent Roger Marshall an email containing a copy of Fauci's current financial disclosure that she got online and copied.
I'm guessing that he's angling for actual documentation, not the doctored-up version that Fauci and the government released.
And still looking for Obama's real birth certificate I suppose as well.
It's on Hunter's laptop, duh.

if it's really that simple, than what's the problem.

Those are the "undecided voters" that get invited on reality TV so we can see how poorly informed some voters are. There are a lot of unaccounted for voters who don't get on TV and are seeing their school board meetings getting disrupted and watching scuffles in airports about masks and at the grocery and at Walmart. A bunch of people who never voted before showed up at the last election and there were some surprises. If they show up again it could get interesting.

Well, I tried to keep it in the context of this thread.
It gets more pols boredy when you add other examples of, one side wants lip service for civil rights and the other side wants to ban Arabs and call Mexicans rapists; one side wants to pass voting rights legislation and the other wants to outlaw drinking water while waiting in line, etc.

here’s an idea: people like mich are unaffected, and so they see no reason for change…even if that change benefits most americans

Put a different way, too many privileged white people in America see life a zero sum game. Any time there is change being discussed that benefits minorities, they privileged white folk think they will have something taken away from them.
This is probably the biggest hurdle to every progressive policy that gets any traction.

Or, people like Mich are so indoctrinated to think of the pols bored like some kinda team sport, where you have to cheer for one side and own the other like it’s some longstanding competitive rivalry, that he really doesn’t even understand or pay attention to the actual X’s and O’s of substantive policies and such.

i am unaffected, for the most part, because i exercise, take my vitamins, say my prayers, work hard, love my family, do as i'm told.
it's not rocket science.
