Just like liberals have to admit that a sizable driver of the democratic party are broke-as-a-joke, debt-ridden, tree-hugging, call-someone-to-change-a-lightbulb socialists.
You had me up until “socialists.”

Most broke-as-a-joke debt-ridden Dems would still go willingly die in a tornado, or go die of covid after being exposed in otherwise preventable work conditions, or generally risk health and life for the sake of making some capitalist richer.

It’s not like Dems wanna seize the means of production about it.
The Anti-Work movement is quite something.

But, some of that is tongue-in-cheek. The parties' have their warts.
Yeah, the parties have their warts for sure.

Neither party - not even Dems! - really does that much for the working class. Both parties are likely to just advance some corporatist agenda about pretty much everything, while convincing the masses the real issue to take to the ballot box is, abortion.

And “anti-work” seems about as well-billed as “defund the police.” There might be a messaging issue.

This might be true as well.
I just don't think name calling/put downs, told-you-so's or any other ways we can promote divide is going to get anyone anywhere.
many would disagree with you, particularly now that we’re into year 3 of this and people are still making dumb decisions…and touting those decisions to their fans/followers
This doesn't just apply to covid.
This applies generally to most hot topics.
Painting an entire swath as some sort of villainous/mindless construct should only apply to Mizzou fans.
i don’t disagree

there is much nuance that gets overlooked just to try and make a point. we’re all guilty of it, some more-so than others

I'll give him a pat on the butt when he starts calling out his pea pod for calling you an antivaxxer etc.

There’s a lot of nuance to a lot of these issues.

Yeah it’s antagonistic to go for a told-you-so or maybe even to call someone and antivaxxer (but aren’t many of them proud of that label?)

I’m trying to decide if the told you so antagonism really is comparable to the but mah rights defiant antagonism that got us there.

Believe it or not, some people really do just wanna keep folks healthy. To frame it as something less than that, or some ulterior motive, seems like a bigger problem than told you so’s.

To get back to this thread, and the context of police brutality, that’s often less nuanced yet. But instead of just taking such instances at face value, too many are too likely to frame it within their preconceived world views first.

we’ve gone from a society and culture that forms its opinions based on information, to a society and culture that forms its information based on opinions.

"Months of research and dozens of interviews by AL.com found that Brookside’s finances are rocket-fueled by tickets and aggressive policing. In a two-year period between 2018 and 2020 Brookside revenues from fines and forfeitures soared more than 640 percent and now make up half the city’s total income."

don't speed. they can't give you a ticket if you're not speeding. problem solved.

just to be safe, i always drive 2-3 mph under the speed limit.

So I, pull over to the side of the road
I heard, "Son, do you know why I'm stopping you for?"
"Cause I'm young and I'm black and my hat's real low"
Do I look like a mind reader, sir? I don't know
Am I under arrest or should I guess some more?
"Well you was doing fifty-five in a fifty-four"

Just to live a little, I always drive 5-9 mph over the speed limit.

I'm fine with MICH and his people driving 2-3 under the limit, but those are the same people that (illegally) never leave the left lane.

But they can give you a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign even if you did, they can give you a ticket for "reckless driving" on a road they don't even have jurisdiction to give out tickets on, etc.... That's the point. Your simpleton "solution" fixes 0.01% of the problem.
