Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is pushing to make the trial that would follow a brief, simple affair with no witnesses. Instead, he envisions a stripped-down trial with little more than statements from House impeachment managers and the president's defense lawyers before proceeding to a final vote of the full Senate...
Well of course that's what they want since the witnesses dont support their alternative reality.

Call Parnas. Call Rudy. Call Bolton and Mulvaney.

Of course, that all assumes the worst has already come out, no big new discoveries at trial, and Trump and his team don’t just shoot themselves in the foot about it.

So, if I may ask:

What sorta bombshell would it take for the senate to remove the potus from office?
There isnt enough spine in the Republican Senate to impeach him even if they had a video of him planning the whole thing out with Putin whole getting a hummer from a 13 year old Epstein girl.

‘Spine’ and ‘Republican shouldn’t be used in the same sentence under any circumstance

Asking those who remember better than I do:

What was the tone and rhetoric of Democrats when Clinton was impeached?

was theirs similar to the current republican tone of, it’s all a railroad shakedown fake news kangaroo court unfair undue unwarranted, even though we’re the ones not cooperating...

So did the Clinton White House prohibit witnesses from testifying?

Clinton testified on video, I believe.

Scary thing is, despite being impeached, his approval numbers went up. Especially after he sucked it up after lying for years and admitted to getting the hummer.

I don't recall. I don't think so, but I don't know for sure.

The thing about the Clintons is that they were both lawyers and the hired excellent lawyers. Trump is completely out of his depth here.

i know he's a hero these days, but if the Dems had somebody other than Schiff (who is only slightly less ridiculous than Nunes), it would have been open and shut. Instead, it's a battle of dipshits.

Well, there's that whole Vince Foster thing.

Sorry, had to put this up before Psych or Doltomite did.

I didn’t know Schiff was a hero.

And I’m not sure it could have ever been open and shut, considering the lengths republicans have gone to march in step behind Trump.

I mean for real could you see anyone saying, “since it’s NOT Schiff, maybe we should hear from all the witnesses...”

Correct. He provided a written deposition in the Paula Jones lawsuit, the inconsistencies in which led AG Reno to expand the Independent Counsel investigation. He testified, via video before the IC's grand jury.

Republicans have done what any party would do in the same circumstances.

Additionally, the issue isn't that people have been uncooperative because they don't like Schiff, but that Schiff is an incompetent hack.

There is no chance it would be an open and shut case with the current path being chosen by Congressional Republicans. They have no choice but to tie the party line.

Having a different Democrat in Schiff's role would change nothing.

All Schiff has done is provide them a more comfortable cover story.

For starters, the Dems’ approach wasn’t based on Russian talking points and they weren’t spreading an adversary’s propaganda

Speaking of tone, Collins has the most aggravating voice there is and that's from someone who listens to male Southern voices every day. Nails on a blackboard aggravating.
