Just rename all the oceans to the American Ocean. They are all ours anyway, right?

Here's Zuck's official statement, I guess. Was gonna dig up the social media tech thread but since we're already talking here...and since it fits here...
https://www.instagram.com/zuck/reel/DEhf2uTJUs0/
5 questions!
1. I know Zuck always comes across as less human and more so AI animatronic cyborg, but even by that standard, does this or does this not come across as some sorta hostage vid?
2. is anyone else concerned Zuck is doing this "in the name of free speech" shit just days before Trump reassumes office, and in the wake of Zuck meeting with Trump and donating a buncha money and stuff? (cue the re-platforming of Trump...)
3. aren't "censorship" and "misinformation" sort of different things?
4. The parallels with X...
a. Is the best alternative really replacing fact-checker systems with "community notes?"
b. what does moving the content moderation teams from Cali to Texas have to do with it?
what does moving from Cali to Texas have to do with
c. and this is related to question 2, but, doesn't this kinda seem like Zuck's trying to beat Musk in some Trump asskissing contest? (Zuck can't even come up with an original way to kiss Trump's ass!)
5. Also related to question 2, but I kinda think other controversial right-leaning social media personalities will be re-platformed and/or amplified...but...what are the odds that left-leaning accounts still get banned for posting speech like "Free Palestine" either way?
bonus question! Cuz this one just might nip this in the bud:
How much of all these issues would be solved by simply doing away with the algorithms and returning to OG social media where you just see a chronological feed of posts from your friends?

Or maybe THIS question is the one that nips this in the bud:
....wait, Meta had fact-checkers?

“Fact checker” is a Meta euphemism for “censor.”

No
Wrong
Scratch that!
Yes
Right
Or.......
I have said this too often, Elon Musk (not Meta) knows some of what he posts on his site is complete bullshit. When I have people tell me he gets "fact checked" on his own site I say no - he doesn't. He gets "community noted" AND he knows that comes long after millions of people read what he originally posted and then don't see the "community note/s".

1. No
2. Yes
3. Yes
4 a. Yes. If "fact checker" systems are flawed.
4 b. I don't know enough to give you a solid answer.
4 c. I don't think so - but I am not as smart as Zhumckerstein or Musk. I don't trust either man with their "platforms".
5. I don't know. What I do know is that people are complete assholes and take pride in it.
You would think there is an extreme difference between being a complete moron and being a genius but I admit there are times when I get confused between the two - when it comes to what people post on social media - and more importantly why they post what they do.
The not funny thing to me is Elon Musk is the person I am most confused by - and then there are time I think I have the guy pretty well figured out. He's a master manipulator- of me.
Bonus answer - Some. Not all. We need to focus on the future because we aren't going back to the past - as we knew it.

Zuck has said he is switching to the community note format. Makes more sense to me.

With regard to community notes, I’m curious who decides which notes are ultimately added?
If it’s the same fact-checkers/content moderators/censors deciding that, what difference does it make?
And in some…uh, democratic? Or something sorta world, pretty sure a vast majority of folks would love to do away with algorithms.

Welcome to the wonderful world of.... Social media on the interwebs. "Big Brother" is now who/m?
Might as well remake the Wizard of Oz and put Zuckerberg and Musk behind the magic curtain.

Sort of reminds me of the joke about blaming Jews for the sinking of the Titanic.
Iceberg, Goldberg, Zuckerberg, Spielberg, Ginsberg, same difference.

Honestly, this is just the way he does things. He just drowns his audience in so much offensively stupid nonsense and bullshit that people give him money to go away and people that have to deal with him who have morals and a conscience quit their jobs to get away from him.

He’s letting the world leaders know that there is an actual leader in charge again and the big dog will go back to eating first. It’s rhetoric designed to send a message, and that message is being received. You saw how Trudeau responded.
I’m not worried that I’ll have to update my world geography to include Canada as a part of the U.S. or to add the Gulf of America.
