I must say though, as the "ultimate deal maker", he is mighty slim on deals made.

You think Trump is doing this because he gives a shit or because other Presidents hadn't and he wants to be the Guy That Did? He was practically begging for a Nobel Peace Prize after his first summit with Kim.
Trump wants the attention and the praise. He is many things but he's isnt dumb enough to actually think that North Korea will actually follow through on any promise to denuclearize. They never will. They will just continue to find ways to hide it better.
