there are cheaper, over-the-counter antigen tests available (if you can find them), but from what i’ve read it’s generally recommended to get a seconds PCR-based test if your antigen test comes up positive
the antigen tests seem pretty sketchy
you can also get two (i think) free antigen tests via the feds and usps
Two sets of four tests per household for free. Costco has 5 tests for $30

so my homie's positive. I was him on Mass with both nights and also crashed at his place Tuesday night. Sounds like mild symptoms.
I'm as aware as anyone that if there ever was a potential super-spreader event, it's a natty on Mass. I almost didn't go! But I weighed the risk against the opportunity to enjoy a championship on Mass, which is still a rare commodity. (not that Bill isn't about to stack up like 3 more in the next decade right you guys?)
but it sounds as likely as anything this guy got it from his kid, who got sent home from daycare with a fever. Or from his parents, who apparently are also positive.
(The number of blue hairs socializing over pastries in crowded JoCo coffee shops every single morning was a bit of a surprise, wait no it's not, but leave it to them to blame the kids these days for the uncontrolled spread *yells at cloud* I digress)
all day Tuesday and still some Wednesday, I felt supremely out of it, but initially attributed it just to traveling and partying and not sleeping for 3 days straight. Then Thursday, felt like it might be an actual illness. Took a covid test provided by a friend, negative. Then Friday, this other friend tests positive. Figured I should at least quarantine rather than keep bouncing around crashing in friend's guest rooms, so headed back to CO.
In my little mountain town supermarket today, went back to the pharmacy counter and asked for covid tests. The pharmacist had a bunch of them right there at the counter, but said something about affecting the pharmacy's budget if he sold me those ones, so asked me to go buy the ones up by the self-checkout instead.
Up at the self-checkout, can't find any. Ask a clerk, who then walks away to go get me one, cuz apparently they keep them back behind the customer service counter. For whatever reason he seemed hesitant when I asked for more than one, but still scored two. $12 a pop. Trying to decide the degree to which that price point might be cost prohibitive.
This morning, I'm negative again. So could just be the effects of a championship-caliber hangover. Or just allergies. Or any other number of pathogens I may have been exposed to from being around a bunch of little kids all of a sudden. Or on Mass. (insert crabs joke here).
In this fucked up way, I almost wish I had been positive, just to at least kind of get some affirmative diagnosis, and make it easier to rule out Lyme disease.

Ticks. Covid. Fuck off. I'm calling Vamonos Pest.
Seriously, though. My dad tested positive 2 days ago. I have had chills, etc. I'm sure I gave it to him, as I was down on Bourbon Street and the like. But, he seems to think he gave it to me. I haven't tested yet, I've just been staying at my place, watching for Ticks.

So I tested positive myself today. Sigh. I guess I'm a dick if I go to parade tomorrow now.

Sorry to hear/read it.

you ain’t lapped up enough of the freebies these last 26 months. Your bad. They been plentiful.
like a big giant pig trough. All we’ve had to do is bend over and slop it up.

It’s not a freebie. I’ve paid for it already and so have you, unless you’re a tax-cheat. It’s just that I’m not ok with my tax money going towards the Grifter-in-Chief’s pockets or the fat cats who run the Military Industrial Complex, but I want it to go towards helping people get over the pandemic.

You are broken beyond repair if you believe health insurance reimbursements are freebies.
What the hell is going on?

I've been hearing, more than ever, people I know/businesses I work with, about widespread positives.
