Weather
Re: Weather
My cousin down in Covington, LA has already booked it out of town for Texas to ride it out with his in-laws. Fingers crossed down there as this might be an epic storm surge. Hopefully people take it seriously and get out.
Re: Weather
Agreed. The storm is terrible and the summer that preceded it a menace. Hoping they are on high ground now.

Re: Weather
I'm in Vermont right now, so just rain. My wife was in the city, and it's a shitshow last night. Just some roof leaking (we on top floor), but trees down everywhere.
Some of the carnage I was following on Reddit

Re: Weather
weather here in michigan is nearly perfect going into labor day weekend.
Re: Weather
Gotta help control the rat population though right? Or drive them up into everyones apartments. On or the other
Just Ledoux it
Re: Weather
Rats are amazing swimmers. It literally brings them out of their homes to the surface. There's something like 2 million rats in NYC. So you then just have bacteria-laced water with electric issues and pissed off rats. At least we don't have gators like LA had.
Re: Weather
Oh, and rats can swim up sewer pipes, up through to toilets. So I imagine with the sewers flooding that there were a few extra toilet rats yesterday.

Re: Weather
the first part of his statement is 100% spot-on
winter in tejas and heat waves in the PNW should be all the evidence one needs to see that we are woefully behind in preparing our infrastructure for what is to come

Re: Weather
So maybe a trillion dollar infrastructure deal should be passed to shore these things up instead of doing nothing because you ("progressive caucus" in the House) can't get your extra 3.5 trillion dollars in it.
Re: Weather
Scott Cohn on MSNBC report said that you can’t throw enough money at Mother Nature to counteract climate change.
I think he’s correct, just build the levees higher…etc among other things.

Re: Weather
don’t think i’d put much stock in his opinion
no different than any other talking head
personally, i’d listen to the folks that actually study such things for a living. doing nothing will be much more costly than doing something
and building levees is wasting money...cities need to think about moving. with a cory like new orleans, is it really smart to keep trying to mitigate when much of the are is already below sea level when sea levels are only going to continue to rise? is it really smart to prop up cities along the coasts? such things are band-aids, and do nothing to address the root of the problem
would you take some ibuprofen for a broken arm, and then just throw up your hands because proper treatment is more expensive?
