Master of the obvious (me) says....
Some sports media people feel the need to make what they say and do more about them than the topic they are discussing. As I have been guilty of, going with the flow doesn't get you noticed. You have to do or say something controversial to get the attention you are seeking.

On another note, I try to like Kevin Durant. When he pulls the shit he's pulling now, he's not a very likable guy.

I liked him until he left OKC for GS. That started the spiral for him imo.

I am almost always on the player's side in anything like this. And if you're an NBA team, in a vacuum you obviously pick Kevin Durant over Steve Nash--that's a no brainer.

But, you go meet a player face-to-face after he publicly demands a trade and his response is to put the entire organization on blast? KD doing himself 0 favors.

I like him as a player. He is one of the most uniquely talented scorers in NBA history. He just says and does stupid shit as a human. It just comes off as petty and unnecessary. This whole thing has been handled just about as poorly as possible.

NBA to Retire No. 6 League-Wide in Honor of Bill Russell

for reference, others who’ve had their numbers retired league-wide:

(nobody)

only Jackie Robinson and Wayne Gretzky have received such an honor in their respective leagues

Lavar Ball is a good father.

LeBron James is a good father.

You feel Lavar is a good father. In some ways I do and in some ways I don't. Plenty of examples to support my feeling/s - both ways.

You feel LeBron is a good father. Overall, I do too.

Back to GOAT and league wide number retirements. Nice honor - for the dead guy. Would have been nice if they did it while he was still alive. Same how I feel about JR's #42 being retired.
I haven't read anything about it yet. My guess is after I do, I still won't necessarily agree with why the NBA felt the NEED to do it. Desire - yes. NEED - probably not.

Not really. The vast majority agree with her. Deep down LeBron probably agrees too.

Perhaps that was another "shot" but people feel "shots were fired" a while ago. Between both of them.

I don't see those comments by Buss as having anything to do with James. Bryant is in the news with his court case so it doesn't surprise me that Buss is commenting on him. People seem to want to make everything about James even when it has nothing to do with him. And we all know the slant that Skip Bayless is going to put on it.
