Pop music since about the mid-90s has been an island of suck. Taylor Swift is better than most and cares about her fans at least. Not expecting her to break out an SBA and play Giant Steps. That said, "The Main Squeeze" is reprising some classic rock cuts and are really shredding. I was surprised hearing "Have a Cigar" with a good singer.

There's worse than Swift.
I wouldn't say that she sucks because she is known to write more of her music than other pop artists and her voice is pretty good.

Now if you were to say she's overrated, i'd nod my head in full agreement.

I mean...i.guess writing youre own music is definetely better than not writing it....but...even if she writes it it still sucks...So...is writing shitty music a check in the plus column?

and no Mich...she's not hot.

How much Taylor Swift have you listened to so that you can determine if she sucks?
I like Bon Iver. She's paired up with them. That stuff doesn't 'suck'.

Yeah, my daughter is a "Swifty" and makes us listen, and I remember cooking and looking up and saying - "Wait - that's Bon Iver, maybe Taylor Swift is cooler than I thought"

I have no idea who bon over is....maybe that is why I'm not changing my opinion based on that piece of information. Maybe that makes me old...I dunno

My guess is most people who aren't big Pink Floyd fans don't know it was Roy Harper who originally sang Have a Cigar. I have to agree with what I think you are implying, he was NOT a "good" singer.

Here is The Main Squeeze's version......

Ok, I know I am nuts but to me - this is proof it's hard to screw up Have a Cigar. This may be the worst version I have ever heard (by a decent/good/great band) and yet I KIND of like it.

P.S. In a 6 degrees of Gutter/ChicagoHawk manner I will share.....
I have one Taylor Hawkins drum sticks. May he rest In peace.

Taylor "posing" for me 2011. If I recall correctly, this was right before The Cars took the stage.

Bon Iver I first thought "is fairly new" but then I realized how old the album that got me into them was.
They ( and largely we are talking midwestener Justin Vernon ) put out their Grammy nominated album 'Bon Iver' back in 11-12. Bon Iver won a Grammy that year for Best Artist. Holocene is a stand out track on that album.

Gutter: yup. Harper at least had the range. But Waters was out of the question.

LOVE this........

From RŌNIN@ronin21btc on Twitter

"Pound Town" by Sexyy Red represents a daring fusion of classical inspiration and contemporary expression.
Although all the outside it may not appear to be adhering to the traditional canons of classical music per se, it carries a vivacity akin to Mozart's spirited compositions and displays a harmonic and melodic allure reminiscent of Chopin's ingenuity.

Saw a good chunk of bands this weekend. Madison Cunningham and Neil Francis are pretty damn good... But this band was the highlight to me and the wife.
