I saw an interesting take the other day:

Merica is the only country in the world that still operates with a constitution from the 18th century.

One one hand, I think that's cuz our constitution got a lot of things right. We innovated that shit!

but on the other, with specific things like "bear arms," one can't help but wonder if it's defeated its own practical purpose 2 centuries later...

Every single issue takes time to legislate, they are not all connected. How much time was spent legislating s covid relief bill to "help Americans" that saw americans get 9% of the total relief

instead of prioritizing legislation time toward things for which there is actually a demonstrable problem, gop-led states are instead fabricating a problem to legislate.

have you seen any real-world scenarios where it’s been a problem?

i know here in utah, the (pub) governor wouldn’t sign a bill at least in part because there haven’t been any actual issues

it seems that state legislatures are going out of their way to further ostracize a group of kids that are already in the cross hairs of their peers, when there are much more pressing issues they should be addressing

So I try to not talk about work here any more, no really.

But we just had a maintenance guy accidentally open a room door that he thought was unoccupied but it turns out it was, didn’t even go in, just open the door say oops sorry and close the door.

Honest mistake, right? Except that y’all tourists legit almost shot him about it.

Okay, they weren’t able to draw in the 2 seconds it took the maintenance to say sorry and close the door, but they then called the front desk and said if it happens again they’re blasting.
