And a change in status. Sounds like we will see him.

I'm guessing KJ tonight, Udeh against Duke

I think KJ continues to start unless/until we get punked by starting such a small lineup against some bigger opponent, or Udeh really does turn the corner in a hurry.

But even if KJ starts, and even if we're getting punked by some big lineup, just have Udeh checking in by the first timeout.

cuz the other side of that coin is, maybe our teeny ball lineup has the potential to run bigger opponents out the gym...

this is usually my way of thinking

obviously there’s gotta be a bit of balance, but the notion that we have to match up with other squads (rather than the opposite) has always bothered me

Yea, it seems so paradoxical that there’s been times we had to sit our bigs cuz some midmajor lineup averaging like 6’2” across positions is running circles around us, rather than our bigs dominating cuz they’re bigger.

So maybe the more exploitable matchup is for us to go smaller too.

This bored has a big man syndrome.
I think it's more paradoxical that our fan base, at least here, don't recall the instances where our bigs do dominate because they're bigger.*

*( and even worse is the moment after these instances happen, the big's performance is discredited, BECAUSE they're bigger, so it's easier or something )

Just three games ago was one of those instances where our big had 25 points and 9 rebounds on 83% field goal shooting against the 2 seed in a Final Four.

That said, considering our lack of experience at the 5, until Udeh ( who looks promising ) gets in the groove, I could definitely see small ball with KJ against teams like North Dakota State and Southern Utah.

I was shocked to see NDSU starts 6'10 and 6'11 at the 4 and 5.

Guessing if they were highly skilled 6'10" and 6'11" bigs, the front of their jersey would not read NDSU

Right.
This is a game where you, early on, with no Self, just go ahead and try and run em out with that lineup ( KJ ) and see where it gets you.

Self's making the starting lineup calls regardless of who is coach.

Not necessarily. They might be skilled but not very athletic

Norm says they are as good as any bigs in the big 12.

Obviously, probably, some coach speak there.

Might be a good test run before dook.

If their bigs are working us, I’d be equal parts curious to stay small and run and press, or get our bigs some reps and just start throwing bodies at them.

Come to think of it, are there any good bigs in the Big XII?
Like, who would start if at KU?
Maybe Groves. Aimaq would. Tre Mitchell maybe. Lampkin probably.

Groves.
Self would get the best outta that backwoodsman.

I’d love Lampkin.

But Udeh is the guy for the future.
