Republicans blow up the deficit, Democrats allow for increase in the debt ceiling.
Democrats blow up the deficit (historically not as badly), and Republicans raise a huge fuss about the debt ceiling, and who knows when they are going to actually take that over the cliff and cause us to default.

I don't approve of either side's approach because the deficit needs to get under control and this Congress and President are spending insanely. But one side is just letting us drown while the other is actively pushing our head under water.
I'd also note that the Republican bleating on and on about deficits...has not been consistent with their actions when at the controls. It's a political tool, no more, no less. And one consistently used in bad faith.
Hannity was whining about President Biden spending the weekend at a Delaware beach house and going for a bike ride while the world was allegedly falling apart around him after spending four years ignoring the hundreds and hundreds of rounds of golf played by Trump. Being consistent with their actions and messages is a concept now wholly irrelevant to the Right Wing establishment.
And, bless their black hearts, it works. The sooner the Ds stop assuming good faith, the better.

5 questions.
1) Why do I assume you know the offenders and they are white?
2) Why did you throw away your favorite pair of sneakers just because they had some poo on them?
3) Why were you wearing your sneakers in your house last night?
4) Why do I have a feeling if you are a gun owner, and you witnessed the neighborhood rascals put and light the bag of poo on your front porch, you would have used your gun to scare the offenders?
5) Is your story true or were you just being facetious?

The House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol issued subpoenas Thursday to four top officials from former President Trump’s administration.
The panel sent letters requesting documents and testimony to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Dan Scavino, former Pentagon official Kashyap Patel, and former White House strategist Stephen Bannon.

at least the trial would have witnesses this time?

For real tho, part of me wonders why these subpoenas weren’t issued as part of the last time congress tied to impeach.
