It could be a combo of decline of production and injury.
He's had a few seasons under 60 games.
Last season at 56.
Say he plays 50 games and his production dips to 25 PPG.
That wouldn't do it.

he's at 37,062
Kareem's at 38,387
in 19 seasons, Lebron averaged 1950 total points a season. So, short of injury or just some decline in production, yea he's likely
he needs 1325 points. Over 82 games, that'd be 16.158 ppg. he's a career 27ppg guy, with his lowest average ppg coming in his rookie year at 20
If he plays this number of games, he needs this average (rounded up) to break the record:
50 games: 26.5 ppg average
55 games: 24.1 ppg average
60 games: 22.1 ppg average
65 games: 20.4 ppg average
70 games: 19.0 ppg average
75 games: 17.7 ppg average
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him break the record this season. He has averaged 55 games a year the last 4 years (yeah, one covid shortened season, I know) and has averaged 1,506 points per season, an average of 27.0 ppg in those games so there's no reason to believe he'll fall short outside of a pretty major injury.

and who knew…Kareem made one, just one, three over his entire NBA career
just remember, probably not that it made a big diff with the style of play back then, he played for 10 years before the 3 point line was established.
very good point

bronny’s body might not hold up long enough to surpass Kareem
That seems awfully hopeful.
Has there been a catastrophic injury or something I am not aware of?

Let's put some guesses out there for which game he break's Kareem's ecord.
My guess is March 5th, 2023 at home vs the Warriors.

IF Lebaby was a goat....he'd be one of these.

I plan to see the current day goat's kid play next month. They (Sierra Canyon) play 4 games in 8 days.
I looked at the Lakers schedule and it appears LeBron has free nights at home for two of those games.
Might as well go to one of those two. May see the current day goat play too.
I know, all that and $2 gets me a lottery ticket and a post on the crimson.com.

I'm thinking that's fake but if anyone is gonna do that, it'd be Curry.

LeBron may be the GOAT but someone needs to explain to Draymond (and Illi) that MJ didn't get a chance to play the 2015/2106 Warriors.
Maybe if Draymond didn't get his dumb ass suspended LeBron and the Cavs wouldn't have beaten "the greatest team ever assembled".

One goofy thing about this “look at the teams Lebron has carried to the finals” is, Lebron is the one who hand-picked those teams!
