i gotta admit.....I kinda like it. Predictable, cheesy, standard coming of age high school show...blah blah....but, entertaining enough to keep watching. Plus I like dark, even light hearted dark, and the Addams family has also been a family favorite.
we couldn’t get past the awful casting for gomez and morticia…morticia alone was ok, but as much as i like Luis Guzman i just couldn’t believe the chemistry b/t he and Zeta Jones
yea...I get that.

Didn't bother me too much tho, they were only really in 1 episode.
maybe we should power through beyond the first 15 minutes lol

That’s another thing - every other iteration of the Addams family is about the family, and the humor of this family dynamic of being strangely adoring of one another, despite all the sinister dysfunction.

In this one, the rest of the family characters are mostly ancillary, so the story can more focus on Wednesday and her tween gossip and stuff.

Because the profit margin is nuts ($3/day or whatever with very little cost, and then buy the DVD at Disneyland prices after you fail to return it).

it’s easy to forget that there are lots of folks out there that can’t afford streaming, or home internet for that matter

i’m sure there’s also rural folks that don’t have the capacity to stream

I'm sure there are customers who also have access to streaming but see that a DVD is 50% off to rent.
The gotchya is when you don't bring it back the next day.

I've done this in the past when visiting my rents over the holidays as the Dillons is a two minute drive away. Rent two movies knowing that i'll be going back.

And that if you want to see a specific movie, you have to have the specific streaming service that is contracted to carry it. I am sure there are movies out there that I simply never get a chance to see because of what I do or do not have subscriptions to.

yknow its crazy. I dont pay attention much to internet speeds etc. If it works it works, if it doesn't, then oh well.

But, CnBs comment of only having 100mbs download speed and then his follow up of the standard around there is 300-500 is just crazy to me. What are people doing that necessitates that sort of speed?

It got me curious so I've checked mine several times over the past few days. I'm running a solid 11-14 myself. I got up 17.3 once.

I stream, its my only TV show option. We have phones iPad etc connected. Ive never had an issue or noticed a problem. I know I'm not a big tech guy and I dont do a lot of internet stuff.

But if I can get by, seemingly fine, with 13mbs ..how on earth are people using 300+??

all true, I forget that I'm kind of annoyed by the whole streaming process and jaded by the cash grab.

If I want to watch something specific I dont chase it...I just qait until it shows up on a platform I have. there is nothing outside of Kansas basketball that I cant wait a few months for.....no TV show is that critical.

Your download speed is only 11-14 Mbps? Google "internet speed test" and use that one and tell me what it gives you for a download speed. Mine runs between 475-525 Mbps so maybe just check a different tool.

There are also olds who simply choose not to go down the streaming path.

Not that it really matters all that much, but you can't stream 4k quality with 13 mbps.
Some people ( me ) need those speeds ( 100+ mbps ) to download larger files. It would take me 20-30 minutes to download some files at 10-15 mbps which wouldn't cut it.
Some are online gamers.
Some need high definition video conferences/presentations.
Some have multiple devices streaming at once.

that's what I used this morning before I left for work. This morning I was running at 13.2 maps.

It does plenty for what I need. When I lived in town I could get 75-100. Out here I can't. But, I really haven't noticed a need for any more bandwidth. I stream tv....but I guess I dont do much else online other than surf the web occasionally and whatever.

But I guess that's what stuck out to me about CnBs comment about only 100....
when we had 100 it was blazing fast, I juat cant imagine personally ever needing more. Thats all, I realize I do less online than some, I just had no idea it was so prevalent to have such high speeds. Everything is high speed compared to the dial up I was used to haha

If it works for what you need then no need to upgrade. We use ours a lot and need it to handle heavy traffic now that I am working from home full time. I can't afford to have any lag time when I am doing my work or I run the risk of something not running right and requiring a retest.

I think even if it didn't work for me it's what I got. Its the only "high speed" option out here. I guess maybe starlink if its up? I here its crazy expensive though.
