Oct 5, 2023 Klamath dams are coming out

The world's largest dam removal project is underway on the Klamath River in Southern Oregon and Northern California. The project will dramatically change summertime whitewater rafting and remove the lakes some people have built their lives around while reopening more than 400 miles of potential habitat for salmon that have been blocked from swimming upstream for a century.

“The Paris Agreement called for efforts to limit global heating to 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit above pre-industrial levels to avoid increased droughts, heatwaves, and flooding.”
An almost impossible task if attempted by humans.

So, you're saying we should have started trying in earnest decades ago?

I agree.

https://www.chathamhouse.org/2022/11/co ... happen-now Adaptation must now move to the forefront

Ruth Townend

There are three pillars of climate action: mitigation, adaptation, and loss and damage. This year progress was made on mitigation and loss and damage but, to avoid wild spiralling of the latter, adaptation must have its day in the sun in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at COP28 next year.

Adaptation lacks a concrete goal, akin to the 1.5 degree limit, and few countries have set out plans to adapt to climate change. Momentum will come when the promised ‘global goal on adaptation’ (GGA) is finally defined, to help mobilize finance and spur implementation.

The Glasgow-Sharm-el-Sheikh (GLASS) work programme to achieve this has so far lacked focus. At COP27, parties decided to define a framework to measure the goal’s achievement and enable reviews of progress over the next year.

hey dolo, i never said adaptation efforts were wrong or misguided

i’ve said from the jump that relying on tech to solve the problem, without addressing the root cause, is misguided…it also lacks a fundamental understanding of the science

Reading the comments pages on the ammonia combustion engine is depressing.

Apparently the earth can take an unlimited amount of atmospheric CO2. Because plants. Or cars only emit carbon monoxide which is harmless. And stuff. Conservative white guys are all climate scientists
