The one with DH and Kj. Obviously. But basketball teams have more than 5 guys.

Thankfully we get the best of both worlds this year.

that's a tough one.

The transfer lineup has a lot more D1 experience, and higher ceiling overall, but feels weird to say they're necessarily better.

Id rather see/cheer on the first group even if it meant loosing more games.

I think the second group is likely better.
Hunter is going to be very good this season.
Clemence would be hard pressed to guard him in that scenario.

A guy that's easy to forget with all the talented guards is Passmore. Not saying he gets much more than mop-up minutes this year but he's an intriguing talent.

yeah, Passmore is an unknown.

Maybe he's a pleasant surprise who's ready to contribute, or maybe he's a shirt.

I'd say either he or maybe Jamari are candidates.

And what to make of Noah Shelby? Big guard who played at Vanderbilt and Rice until invited walk-on here. Prob won't play more than walk-on minutes, I'm guessing, and might not even be eligible this year. Kind of a unique sitch either way.

Noah Selby is redshirting this season. Part of his plan in coming.

Yes. He's an NBA level athlete. I doubt he redshirts and I doubt he plays much. Probably a played sparingly reserve as a freshman. But will be a beast in practice against the older transfers, and could be a stud sophomore

I like the idea of Selby and Jamari taking redshirts.

I really like the idea of jamari taking one. I think he be the perfect long term program guy, that really wants to be here. And he seems to understand the way bill wants to play. Over the self era we have had quite a few guys that redshirted and became fan favorites who had big impacts of the program (Brady, travis, Landen, dajuan, etc) and we have the depth this season where it makes sense for him to do it

Agree. He's also got almost zero chance of averaging more than 10min per game this year unless we have major injury issues.

Redshirt is the only choice that makes sense to me.

My hesitation on redshirting McDowell is, ultimately, directly related to the case for redshirting him.

The case for redshirting him is that we're going to play a low-ceiling "safe" guy 35+ mpg.

I would like us to be done playing low-ceiling "safe" guys anything approaching that much.

And so preserving more eligibility for another guy like that, makes me nervous.

so do you project Jamari as a lead guard? Assuming the low-ceiling "safe" guy you mention is Dajuan

and to your point about being nervous - do you mean to suggest you'd rather not have low-ceiling safe guys around the program for so long?

By lead guard do you mean PG?

Because McDowell is not a point guard.

Dajuan is only considered low ceiling by some fans because he doesn't score a bunch of points.

He's an elite defender and an elite passer. In my opinion he's a top 15 point guard in all of college basketball. That's not low ceiling.

He's been on every single top 20 list of college basketball point guards that I've seen for this upcoming season, so this isn't a minority opinion.

This is CBB. Fantasy land "NBA ceiling" means nothing to success in CBB. Our entire team is low ceiling by NBA standards. We won a national title recently with a team that had only 3 NBA role players (CB Och and JW). That team wasn't low ceiling. They reached the highest ceiling.
