I've done just that in the past and will continue to do so...still a great suggestion, though.

My daughter has been on anti anxiety meds since age 13 and is 24 now. Her anxiety could be debilitating at times. At an early age the doctor had her on some heavy duty meds with side effects. After she left for KU she called we one time and said she needed to talk. I drove to Lawrence, she started crying. "I know you are going to be ashamed of me, but there is something I need to tell you, I am so ashamed of myself, please don't tell my mom, I started smoking pot to help with the anxiety and it works so now I smoke pot." I started laughing....FUCK ME, that's it!, I thought this was something serious! I thought you were pregnant or were dropping out of school.

Who fucking cares? I told her I smoked pot all through high school and college, and so what? I have done alright, you are much smarter and more hard working than I ever was, you will be fine. As for your mom, you should get this off your mind and tell her too. If she gives you any shit, I want you to know that she smoked pot all through high school and college as well, so I really don't think she is going to care either. As long as you feel more stable emotionally, that is what counts. Also tell your therapist, let her know something is working for you. After college my daughter moved to Denver and got a new therapist; who prescribes weed for her. The change of venue has been good for her she climbs 14ers every other weekend now, she goes camping and to concerts, she plays in the Lakewood Symphony and she has also dropped all of her other meds. She says she doesn't need them any more. I have never seen her so happy and confident as she is these days.

I have given it to my 80 year old mom who has memory issues which may be anxiety related. She spends an hour looking around her apartment for her keys when she wants to go out. She told me that she was going out less because it made her anxious to think about finding her keys. When she started drinking a little of the juice, she didn't think about finding her keys, she just went and grabbed them from the counter in her kitchen and went out. She says she is generally in a better happier mood as well. Is it helping....I don't know for sure. But I know this; weed is probably not going to be what kills her at this age.

Me?....I just like to get high and listen to music on my headphones after a long week. I ain't hurting nobody; so just let me have this, and leave me the fuck alone.

I'm liking the happy stories about people's kids!
Had someone prescribe Wellbutrin for me. Shit works for some people. Me, it made my life worse.
Side affects were not good and never did much in terms of treating my depression.
Stopped taking it and I was a happier person. So much with treating depression has to do with other factors besides meds.
I don't believe in CBD in terms of treating my own ailments. Others swear by it and I have no doubt there are strong benefits to their using it. Good for them.
Best "drug" I have used for treating my own issues was marijuana.
I don't love the affects but there is no doubt occasional usage works wonders for me.
That being said, of course it's not going to benefit everyone who uses it.
I will never be against the enjoyment and benefits from smoking weed. Alcohol, that's another story for another day.

This is truly amazing to hear! I'm so glad to hear that a lifestyle change and a little green are alleviating her anxiety symptoms (not to mention Colorado is very friendly to a lot of what she likes doing). This is the kind of positive news we need to hear more of!

It's annoying that now that weed is legal in my state it has become far more difficult to obtain.

The dispensaries south of Chicago mostly don't even have flower. And several are going medical only a few times a week because inventory is so low.

I haven't noticed illegal weed is any harder to obtain in my area, yet.

Dispensaries are good for vape oil, because of better quality than the street supply....the flower I've seen is incredibly good, but not worth the price....plus what kind of adult only buys a few grams? I'd prefer to get a half or an oz and not worry about getting it more than once a month. The street flower I get is similar quality, slightly inferior I'd imagine THC% wise, but 50% or more cheaper. The main difference I see is the dispensary flower is super fresh, which is nice.

Illinois will find a way to fuck it up.

The dispensary experience, from what I've been told since I haven't gone into 1 yet, is shitty. You don't ever see the product..someone just walks up to you in line with an iPad and you choose. Not that I "need" to see the flower, but it would be nice to just kind of look and pick from a display case.

Not sure how they do it everywhere, but the Colorado/California buying experience is far superior from what I've been told...obviously it's early in the game. I'm going to 1 today when I'm out and about working to buy a disposable vape pen just to check it out. Shits crazy expensive though. $50+ and then 30% tax for 500mg seems crazy, but oh well.

My guess is that Nebraska is going to battle Missouri for the title of "Last State to Legalize".

Grrrrrr.

Economics would indicate that the weed-buying experience in Chicago will be quite different in a few months as dispensaries try to out-do each other for business. I'm guessing in a year or two the dispensaries will be more like a Starbucks. Similar to what they have in California right now.

Chikn is right.

If Illinois' experience is anything like California's, then the illegal market will be back and booming in no time.

Agreed. And we were warned.

It's no different than the guy who buys the 30 pack of Natty Lite. Sure, there's better beer. But does the quality of the alcohol really trump my desire to get fucked up for a more than reasonable price?

The illegal market is booming in Cali because it is easy to grow outside and there is lots of remote land to do it on and they have historically done it that way. Illinois will have to import their illegal weed, indoor grows are hard to hide, just check the electric bills.

The illegal market flower here in KC seems to be coming from Oregon's legal supply. They have a surplus. The plus is it's not coming from unregulated sources outside the country.

In olden days,1970's-80's I bought it in ounces, now, why bother? The stuff coming in from Mexico wasn't fresh anyway so having it dry out wasn't really a thing. Now it is sticky and green and it is potent enough that I don't need to stockpile. More is a 10 minute drive away. It's like buying 2 months worth of lettuce when you go to the grocery, why? The only time I buy in bigger quantities is when I am getting it in MO, To minimize my contact with criminal enterprises. One conviction and I lose my license in 38 States. I still have 7 years of revenue before I retire and losing that would take a half $million out of my retirement plus I would have to get a real job. I hate real jobs. I don't need that right now. But that too will change soon, my wife will have her medical card and we will have a regulated supply in a few months. It might be expensive per gram but it's not much more than good beer and healthier for me so who cares?
