Yeah. Lot of those bad numbers for the run defense was when they were still figuring it out in the first 10 weeks or so of the season. Soon as the Tennessee game happened, the switch was flipped and the defense trusted each other and got way more physical.

That has mattered.

The only worrisome thing about 49ers offense is that they run no matter the situation and they will run it on 3rd and 8 with an inside trap when defenders want to get up the field.

KC going to have to be disciplined to stop 49ers various running schemes.

But still...

Mahomes.

Side note. Derrick Henry was on First Take today. Max Kellerman asked him what he saw in the Chiefs that had him limited to such a small rushing total. He said once they got behind, they couldn't run. He said it was nothing KC did, it was that they had to do other things to keep up. Henry was salty.

Stephen A Smith shot back and said, you were up 10-0, an ideal time to run, and you still couldn't. He then said, Chiefs were good in that the DL was disciplined, and the LBs were very physical. And that made a difference.

People still discounting the Chiefs run defense. But it's been something else this last couple of months. Not many people getting good runs on them, regardless of the formations/schemes/personnel.

I have a feeling that Spags, FC55 and the Landlord are consistently reminding the rest of the defense how little respect they are getting. You shouldn't need anymore juice playing in the Super Bowl but playing with that edge and chip on your shoulder doesn't hurt either. You have really good edge guys in Clark and Suggs and then tremendous depth in the interior.

The Niners run the same zone blocking run game like his old man did with the Broncos. You simply have to do your job. Read your keys, stay gap disciplined and the Chiefs will be fine.

The Tennessee run game and the San Francisco run game might as well be be Apples and Radishes.

The better comparison is Minnesota, and the Chiefs still did a great job against the run the 4 times the Vikes decided to run the ball that game.

But SF run game is on full cylinders right now. Will be hard for anyone to stop and I don't think it's discounting what the Chiefs have done to acknowledge that. The discipline will need to be from the entire front 7. Chiefs are certainly capable, but I still see this as Mahomes outscoring SF than shutting down SF.

Sad statement - I admit I didn't realize Mahomes was an Adidas guy until this week.
Shame on me or shame on Adidas?

You. It's fairly well known that he's an adidas/Oakley guys. The adidas thing was bigger last year. The Oakley thing is big this year.

But then again, not many people know what endorsements that football players have. Like Tom Brady is UA, Peyton was Reebok for a good time, etc.

Yep. All over the place. The early ads had Brittany in there with him. They've basically dropped her. I think we all know why.

I'm more worried about managing the clock to get the ball to Patrick.

That said - the Bill/Andy parallels run so deep. Would make sense for Andy to have to slay the clock management dragon, the same way Bill had to slay the midmajor dragon on his way to a Final Four.

Hey, he is no Mattress Man who dropped a millie to watch the Chiefs lose against the Texans to now watch him lose another millie when they lose to SF.

I would be down right shocked if the Chiefs could replicate the same success against the run like they did against the Titans. They can let San Fran run the ball but it can't be enough that it opens up the play action passing game. If that happens it will be night night.

I trust Mahomes. His QB sense has matured greatly this year. Last year if you dropped seven or eight in coverage he could be fooled or was greedy forcing the deep ball. This year he is just as good taking what the defense gives him. I can see him taking what the defense gives him but the first time one of those zone coverage corners doesn't play his deep fourths or thirds 10,17, or 14 is going to run right pass them for six.

Titans shut themselves down as much as Chiefs did. They switched their game plan and it fucked then. That and Mahomes.

I think Chiefs win. I don’t think it’s easy.

What does Chiefs window look like past this season? I know Mahomes has 2 years left until a new contract has to be Ian place, but one would surmise that is coming a lot soon than that.

When he is taking up $35 million + in space it’s going to be harder to have all the weapons around him.

But I’m not sure how old anyone is or what their contracts look like, nor thE space against the cap.

I do know that following championship runs, teams have a tendency to be raided by others, as there is generally a reason a group of players made that run in the first place, and that’s bc they are all good to great or better individually.
