With the 6.65 million new people filing for unemployment last week, have we reached that peak, or will there be even more numbers soon? That's 10 million people out of work in a two weeks. Employment report comes out tomorrow morning, but may not reflect everything.

man, how is the service sector ever gonna fully recover?

between the pathogen concerns, and the increases in automation, dang.

on a related note, are cam girl revenues way up? I can only imagine, considering how many strippers are suddenly out of work, and how many patrons have nowhere else to see a naked chick dance around.

15% Unemployment is also very optimistic. I could see if going into the 20s easily.

Seems like this thing hasn't hit Manhattan too hard, although people work in the city, and live in the outer boroughs

There is going to be a very, very stark distinction in outcomes on race/income lines.

Yeah, 30% was what I saw in most projections, and that was based on last weeks numbers.
I only came to kick some ass...

Vega wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2020 1:24 pm God, those numbers are bad. So to use her numbers, .04% of folks died from H1N1. Meaning Covid-19 is 50x deadlier. Also, using her 7,500 deaths per day, that means that at the very least, 1% of deaths in the US are because of Covid-19 right now. And this thing is just starting.
About 1350 reported deaths yesterday of COVID in US. So about 18% of deaths using that 7,500 number. 18x increase in 8 days.

What's the over/under that Psych is relieved every time dolomite/Imzcount passes through, because at least, temporarily, he won't come across as the most whacko-brained conspiracy theorist here?

The idea that anyone would treat Yellen -- or Bernanke or Powell or, hell, even Greenspan -- as an honest observer or a voice of authority any longer simply amazes me.

And so now, for a report on the Great Chicago Fire, we go live to Mrs. O'Leary's Cow...

Multiply that by 10, and you'll get some idea of how we've felt since shortly after republicans started forcing supply side economics down our throats, 4 decades ago.

You're the one who keeps celebrating every time a new wave of horrible financial news comes through. There's really not another rational explanation for that kind of behavior.
